Re: Movie discussion thread
Fright Night (2011) - Decent time filler, it's silly in places but enjoyable none the less. 3/5
Oh that Imogen Poots is something else.
Immortals - Not bad, better than Clash but not as good as 300. They screwed up the gods and Titans though, the gods are suppose to be powerful men/women not a bunch of clean shaven children with golden armor, and that titans are suppose to be behemoths that shake the foundations of the earth not zombie like warriors. Beautiful to look at though, it's the most gorgeous movie I've seen since Tron: Legacy. 3.5/5
And yes Freida Pinto is ridiculous, Dev Petal is one lucky guy.

Scream 4 - Ugh just terrible, the ending slightly redeemed it. I only kept watching because of Hayden's cute little ass 2.5/5
50/50 - Tricky subject to tackle but they just about managed the right tone, Joe Gorden Levitt is becoming one of my favorite actors at the moment. 4/5

Immortals was good. It really could have had more story to it. Seems like they made it a little short.Hagler's Bald Head wrote:Fright Night (2011) - Decent time filler, it's silly in places but enjoyable none the less. 3/5

Mickey Rourke was the only good thing about that movie for me. He was awsome, as usual, in it.

I thought it was funny. Reminds me of a teacher I had in high school. Hot as hell but psycho!

She couldn't have been that hot ?
There was a teacher in my high school who ended up making out with a sixth year at a club, apparently she was filthy whore from whore island.

She was pretty hot. Which is why she was psycho. You're not that hot and end up teaching high schoolers unless you got issues.

Re: Movie discussion thread
I love classic movies.
On a david lean kick lately.
Bridge on the River Kwai- I like but I feel that one is overrated.
Lawrence of arabia-always amazing. the sheer scope of the desert shots is breathtaking
dr. zhivago- have to be in the right mood to watch it. Do love all the cold/snow as I am a fan of winter.
Hobson's choice- very underated flick.

Is Lawrence Of Arabia on Blu Ray yet ? that movie would look gorgeous in 1080 HD.
I've still yet to see Bridge On The River Kwai, it's been slightly ruined for me as one of those 100 greatest movies tv shows ended up showing the ending That same show also ruined Get Carter for me

no idea. I know nothing about Blu ray.
river kwai-good movie, but I think it doesn't measure up to his other epics, that being Lawrence, and Zhivago.

Re: Movie discussion thread
some of the well known epics of the 1940s-1960s haven't aged well. Others hold up amazingly well.
Funny thing is you wouldn't make those movies today.
They were big budget dramas. Yes, alot had decent action, but today we get only big budget action. No damn drama.

if my memory isn't going , River Kwai is about 2 hrs 40 mins. Lawrence is about 3 hrs and 35-40 mins. Zhivago is about 3 hrs and 15-20 mins.
I love the 3-4 hr movie.
I'm all about escaping deep into another place and time. Feeling like you can grow to know the characters.

I don't mind movies over 3 hours as long as the story is engrossing enough to keep me interested and entertained. I actually prefer the extended versions of The Lord Of The Rings.

If you have little kids that like animals, I'd recommend Chimpanzee. My 5 yr old loved it and it wasn't painful for me to watch.

When I have kids I can't wait to show them the Toy Story trilogy.

Saw The Hungers Games. It wasn't that bad. It was what I expected, a young adult version of The Running Man.
But the chick was hot. And that dress she had where flames were shooting out when she twirled was pretty awsome.

Shame - wow that was intense dreary stuff, Fassbender poured his heart and soul into that performance and it's a disgrace that the academy never even nominted him. An outstanding piece of filmaking but it's extremely dark and grimy. 4/5
