Sauerland - Kessler vs Bute talks

This better be a two fight deal for Showtime with Kessler. And the next fight should be a top SMW of Showtime's choosing - not Kessler's. Injury or not Kessler owes Showtime for his bowing out of the tourney.

I wish Showtime would give Librado Andrade a deal, he should be in the mix to fight the Super Six dropouts.

It'd be cool if somehow Kessler beat Bute, then if Froch beats Johnson, Ward-Froch would not only be the final, but also for The Ring belt.

But now that I think about it, if Kessler beat Bute, he'd probably jump Froch since he technicaly got a win over Froch

Grant- you don't think Kessler won the Froch fight? Very close fight. I thought Kessler won.

I felt Kessler won it by two rounds, and that's coming from a die hard Cobra fan.

Kessler killed Carl with those body shots.

I think a draw would have been the best decision for that fight.

That fight is so hard to score. I rewatched it twice, and both times, I had both guys winning.

The only issue I have with that fight is the way Saurland jumped into the ring celebrating when the final bell rang, it was almost as if they knew Kessler would get the nod despite the fight being so close.

Yup. No way Froch was going to win that fight on the scorecards.

But if Kessler somehow beat Bute, I dunno if that is enough to jump Froch. His win over Froch was close and could've gone either way. And Froch not been dominated the way Kessler was against Ward.

It depends on Froch does in the Super Six. If he's impressive against Johnson and Ward does that justify the #1 spot?

Ward is currently # 1, and unless he looks horrible or loses, I don't see him moving. Even if Bute, ranked 2nd, beats Kessler, Ward already dominated Kessler. So doesn't realy mean anything for Bute. Maybe if Bute KOs Kessler, but I don't see that happening.

So if Kessler beats Bute, I think just because technical win over Froch, will put him in the 2nd spot. I understand the logic, but I don't agree with that.

Yup. I don't know how he didn't break his ribs with those right hands. I was really impressed with Kessler's work to the body in that fight.

so Kessler has an eye injury that requires surgery. He is going to come back with the longest layoff of his career. Yeah, I'll take Bute by close decision.

I kind of hope they let Kessler take a tune up. Put this fight in the Fall.

YUP. Eye issues. Long layoff and no tune up is a recipe for losing to Bute. Beating Bute isn't easy no matter what.
