Who should Martinez fight next?

obviously Chavez jr will not fight him and will most likely drop his paper belt. Sterm wont fight him either. Daniel Geale is a very good opponent. I'd love to see him fight Pirog or Golovkin, but arent very likely. Its about time Pirog fights someone good, hes 31! Lou will look for Floyd, Manny and Cotto, but he should forget about them because he will not get those guys in the ring with Sergio. I think HBO will want Angulo to fight him, but I know Angulo will want a 154 title shot instead.

I think Rubio will be next opponent and they will fight for the belt as they both are next in line as mandatories

Kirkland/Angulo winner or Matthew Macklin around St Paddy's day.

I'd like to see him fight Angulo, but if El Perro can't get his immigration status cleared (fight won't happen in Mexico), I guess Macklin would be good, as Sturm is a huge pussy. If Manfredo pulls off an upset against Bum Jr., I wouldn't be suprised if he puts him against Martinez.

Pac fights bigger guys but picks them carefully (and it is still impressive), yet people seem to want Martinez to face bigger guys but not be choosy!!!!

fighting a ring genius like BHOP or a huge super middle like Bute (who weighed in at 173 in his first professional fight-while Martinez started his career at 147) is asking a ton of Martinez.

i agree with you. the difference is that martinez would have stayed at 154 if somebody would have fought him. he would still go down to that weight class to fight if someone would take a fight. he isnt flaunting himself that he is beating bigger men like roach is about pac.

but there are tons of good fights for martinez, but the only problem is if those people will fight him. the winner of angulo/kirkland or the winner of cotto/marg would both be good fights. sturm is the #1 middleweight i want him to fight but sturm would never make that fight. i would like to see him KO chavez jr.

I think HBO is going to want Martinez-Lee for St Paddy. There is reason why they've put Lee on now twice as undercard to Martinez.

Seems the new HBO managment is also wanting a showdown with Pirog, and why they are going to put Pirog-Geale on HBO early next year.

So seems like Pirog-Geale January or weekend of the SB.

I'll be honest, I dont want to see the fight becuase B-Hop is so boring. Martinez would be too small to compete at Light HW. The difference between Pascals and Martinezs' style is Martinez throws a lot of combination which would give Hopkins a good challege. However, Martinez isnt as big as Pascal and doesnt hit harder.

Sturm, Golovkin, Geale, Pirog, Lee, Macklin, or Proksa. He has enough solid fighters to get put on HBO (or Showtime) and make a good fight.

hopkins vs martinez is a complete mismatch. barker showed why martinez is at his limit fighting in the 160lb division against legitimate middleweights. he struggles with a middleweight's reach. i think that had Pavlik not had been cut over both eyes and totally lost heart then that is a fight he could have/ should have won. he was getting to martinez with his workrate and reach advantage. a busy middleweight will be nothing but problems for martinez. the problem is that the 160lb division is stale. moving up to fight a big strong light-heavyweight, a fucking legend at that, is not the answer. martinez should carry on clearing out what 160lb has to offer and notch up a nice string of defences of his Ring title. martinez vs macklin interests me

Pretty sure he will if Pirog wins the Geale fight. Only reason why I can see HBO telivising it is they will want the winner to fight Martinez.
