TMT double header Nov 17th on Showtime ? Empty TMT double header Nov 17th on Showtime ?

Promoter Hector Garcia has advised BoxingScene.com that Juan Carlos Salgado's next defense of the IBF super featherweight championship will come against undefeated Cuban star Yuriorkis Gamboa. The date being targeted is November 17th, potentially on Showtime.

Salgado (26-1-1, 16KOs) vs. Gamboa (21-0, 16KOs) will be part of a doubleheader featuring super middleweight Andre Dirrell (20-1, 14KOs) in the opening fight. The rumored opponent being discussed is WBA interim-champion Brian Magee (36-4-1, 25KOs).

The doubleheader would be the first promoted show by TMT Promotions, the company started by rap star 50 Cent and WBA 154-pound champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

There is even talk of 50 Cent doing a concert prior to the fights.

really? magee?? that is an utter waste of time. Magee is tough but limited if his performance against Bute is representative of what he normally brings.

Gamboa should take care of Salgado, but he isn't a pushover. He spanked Linares in 1 round and his only loss is to Uchiyama(who is ranked 1 by most non-ABC rankings).

People like to say 130 is weak. That is true. But I also think that view is taken because fight fans (and some US boxing writers) really shit on divisions where Americans suck.

Magee is better than I expected for Dirrell, sure he's limited but he's a decent opponent.

Gamboa vs. Salgado should be good.

Magee is the easiest fight and shortest path to a trinket. He also will be lined up for Ward whenever they want to try and enforce the mandatory. Salgado is the best in this hemisphere at 130. I think Uchiyama is legit but I don't see Gamboa fighting him. Japanese need big incentive to come up here and Gamboa/TMT Promotions won't have in fight in Japan.

its not the best card in the world but its solid. i dont mind either of these fights at all. even if TMT can consistantly put on cards like this, they are probably better than every other promoter. we will just have to wait and see if they keep this going.
