Soto vs Rios, Antillon vs Vazquez double header Feb 26th on Showtime

After WBC lightweight champion Humberto Soto decisioned Urbano Antillon in a twelve round war on Saturday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum disclosed that Soto's next defense will come against unbeaten Brandon Rios on February 26th in Las Vegas.

"We have a deal for Humberto Soto to fight Brandon Rios on Showtime on February 26th in Las Vegas," Arum said.

The scores in Soto-Antillon were very close. Antillon lost a point in the fifth round for a low blow. If not for the point deduction, the fight would have been scored a majority draw. Arum thought it was a great fight. To reward Antillon for his strong effort, Arum will attempt to get him a co-feature title shot on 2/26.

"Urbano fought a great fight tonight and I think we can get him a fight with IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez and put it as the co-feature to Soto-Rios. Then the winners can fight each other," Arum said.

Arum then faced Antillon and said, "Do you like that?" Antillon grinned in approval.

The doubleheader has one stumbling block as Soto made it known that he probably won't be ready to fight again untill March. Arum said that he might may be able to move the fight back, but he might also work his magic and convince Soto to fight on the date already approved by Showtime.

That would be a great card. I finally got around to watching the Vasquez v. Dominguez fight yesterday and Vasquez looked good controlling it.

good card. this fight is big for both rios and soto. i think that whoever wins will get a big fight.

I think Vazquez will box the shit out of Antillon.

What a damn good card! Rios vs Soto will be war!

i kind of feel a bit sorry for the crafty little fox, Humberto Soto. i actually think he is a really highly skilled guy, that can fight and box and his fighting reminds me a lot of JMM. i think the problem he's had is that everybody keeps on moving up, all them big fights keep escaping his grasp and now he is getting older and older and being put in tough fight one after the other without the recognition. I really rate him, it's an instance of where the politics ruin the sport but i guess this is the way it works out

Before they made Barrera-Pac II, Arum always talked about making Soto vs Pac since both where in house, but then they decided to work with GBP so they made the bigger $ fight

Soto was also in the running to face Pac later but he moved on to bigger things.

Soto has been unlucky that everyone keeps moving up, and now he'll probably not get a shot at JMM since TR and GB have a beef right now.

Humberto Soto is a credit to the sport of boxing. no diva behaviour to try and get the big fights, just stay patient and active in the best fights available. maybe this is where he has gone wrong lol

Yea, a shame HBO stopped showing interest in him after the Guzman loss

I hope he does get his retirment pot payday though one day before he gets beat by somebody insignificant. we should go on a mission to try and get him a big fight.

I would think he's well off, been staying busy fighting in Mexico in front of big crowds on Chumpez Jr under cards
