Sky want to do a Haye, Froch PPV double header in May
BoxingScene.com has been advised that David Haye's likely return will take place on May 21 at the 02 Arena in London. Haye (25-1, 23KOs), the WBA heavyweight champion, was ordered to face his mandatory Ruslan Chagaev. There is considerable doubt over Chagaev's ability to box in the UK. The British Boxing Board of Control is reviewing Chagaev's medical records and Haye's team expects a decision in the next couple of days.
Due to his struggles with Hepatitis B, the British Board had previously denied Chagaev's ability to box in the UK. The BBBoC issued a letter in June 2009 which rejected Chagaev's application.
As previously reported on BoxingScene, Sky Sports is very interested in a pay-per-view doubleheader that would feature Haye on top, and Carl Froch defending his WBC super middleweight title against Glen Johnson in the co-feature. Froch-Johnson, a semi-final bout in the Super Six tournament, is scheduled to take place on the same date. Contrary to other published reports, Froch is not contractually bound to the Primetime network.

So would Showtime show this fight or just carry the Super Six semi?

They'd just be showing the Super Six Semi final, Haye vs Chageav will probably be on at 10pm UK time.

At least Chageav is a top ten guy, it could be much worse... Mormeck rematch

Tua isn't top ten ranked and just drew with Monte Barret.
Thomson would be alright,.

At least David Tua is hep B free lol
Even Shannon Briggs would be more interesting than Chagaev who almost lost to Travis Walker in an 8 round match
Why does the ranking even matter? Because of the bogus strap?

Because in todays weak division Chageav is considered a decent HW.
Shannon Briggs and David Tua need to retire already.

He's already got a fight lined up for next month I believe, but I'd love to see Haye vs Chambers at some point.

Re: Sky want to do a Haye, Froch PPV double header in May
It'll have to be a WBA ranked fighter (top 15), so it could be anyone from there. That lead to this rather cynical article.
Rahman possible?
Chagaev will almost certainly not get sanctioned to fight in the UK, so unless an overseas promoter (K2 maybe heehee) wins the purse bids that fights off. Boystov is injured as is Povetkin, Valuev seems to be retired, Ustinov won't be put in with a Klitschko, Thompson and Chambers aren't ranked. It's slowly making the paper reign of Hayes all the more laughable. The title should be Wladimir's for beating the real champion but hey ho.

Chris Arreola is ranked 15th
Win tomorrow and make it happen in May!

Hasim Rahman would really be a horrible choice, even I'd struggle to defend that fight.

I don't think theirs any defendable fights out there for Haye personally. The ship has sailed on Adamek and Solis, the Klitschko's are busy, Chagaev won't get licensed over here, Boystov isn't fit to fight, Povetkin is injured (and having those infamous issues with Atlas), Ustinov is K2 promoted and garbage, Rahamn, Valuev, Mormeck, Meehan, Timur Ibragimov, Bahktov and JC Gomez are old. Dimitrenko is a Klitschko Klone with out the skill or power (and has a fight with Sosnowski arranged), Helenius would be too green and Arreola would be derided as fat.
Haye has backed himself into a corner and will struggle to walk away with any creditability IMO.

Re: Sky want to do a Haye, Froch PPV double header in May
Haye has some options to make credible fights
Povetkin
Arreola
Chambers
Dimitrenko
Sam Peter
Obviously not a murderer's row, but a step up from Rahman/Fraudley

Re: Sky want to do a Haye, Froch PPV double header in May
Well the Mormeck camp have been talking about a Haye rematch ever since he moved up to HW, if they came up with a good offer I could see Haye taking it.
At this point I believe Haye doesn't care what people think about him, he's in it to make some money and enjoy the celebrity parties.

The same Sam Peter beaten 3 times by the Klitschko's already?
The same Arreola everyone calls fat ans useless?
Chambers isn't WBA-top 15 ranked so wouldn't usually be a viable option as a defence and is a "fat cruiserweight" according to most
Dimitrenko beaten by "a fat cruiserweight", has medical issues and a fight in February (so won't be ready for the date anyway
Povetkin isn't a likely opponent due to the hand injury suffered against Firtha, his trainer (cough-fool-cough).
I'd give him credit if he could get Povetkin inn the ring but it won't happen.

I rather see those fighters vs Haye than Chagaev/Rahman or anybody else the WBA thinks is top 15
