Compared to how he talked, Haye fought a bad fight. Compared to how I thought he would do I was impressed. He's more slick than I gave him credit for and has better stamina. Does she speak Russian because they only spoke in English that would've been a reality tv smash.

did Haye attempt 318 punches over 12 rounds? doubtful. According to the BBC blog he landed 57 punches.

Wlad threw 216, Haye 215. Wlad landed 90 something punches. It was pretty poor from both of them.

Compubox had Wlad throwing 509 punches. Haye only 290 punches.

Your numbers are a bit off.

Gumby, you are the person on here that sees almost every fight the most similar to me. My opinion of Haye went up in the fight. His chin was better and he got to Wlad more than I thought he would. He definitely has heavyweight power. A HOF champ on the roll of his career is not a bad loss to take. Wlad will end up in the top 15 or so heavys of all time.

Like Roy Jones said, Haye's game plan was to land one big punch, not outbox Wlad. I have no problem with that but clearly he didn't want to take too many chances. Now, I will say that the flopping was evident. It seemed like Haye was bound & determined not to let Wlad lean on him & tire him out, so he simply went to the ground every time. The ref got tired after it became a problem so he called the knockdown as an attempt to dissuade Haye from doing it anymore. Otherwise it went they way I thought it would.

I would agree with this. The problem is putting his performance into context of how he ran his mouth for the last three years, and his sickeningly transparent methods to draw attention to himself. When you stoop to the lows that this piece of shit did, you open yourself to a whole new level of scrutiny and ridicule.

I congratulate him for talking himself into several multi million dollar purses. He got a lottery windfall to retire on that most of us can only dream of. Unfortunately, his story will only inspire a whole new gaggle of loudmouth punks to try and take the easy way to fame and riches.

What disappoints me is how easily sheeple are duped by hype jobs like this again and again. Especially the British media who completely dropped the ball in their duty to scrutinize stories and present unbiased commentary.

Not that anyone here has said it, but I'm sure people somewhere are saying it and I'd like to address it now, "Wlad is too big for Haye."

Haye 6 ft 3,
Corrie Sanders 6 ft 4
Brewster 6 ft 2

Haye is in between the height of the last 2 guys who beat Wlad.

Haye's reach is listed on boxrec as longer than either guy.

Weight-Haye weighs alot less than Sanders and Brewster weighed 226.
But lets break down Brewster's weight. No one would argue with the fact that Haye's bodyfat % is probably 4% lower than Brewster's. Brewster isn't fat but he didn't get into the shape that Haye has. You take away the extra 8-9 pounds of fat and there is little difference in the lean body mass of the fighters.

The difference is how Haye fights. He fought small.

When you are 6 ft 3 and continually crouch making yourself much shorter, it is going to be hard to reach Wlad's chin more than occasionally with the right hand. Especially so when you aren't making enough attempts to reach it!!!!!

But shorter guys can reach his chin. it isn't easy, but you have to fight your height.
