Does Dan Rafael have something against the Ring belt ??
I rarely see Dan mention it in his articles.

Mr. Twinkie is horrible. For all his blogs attacking organizations, he neglected to mention this would be for the ring title. what an utter joke.

You guys act as if the Ring is paying your salary. Not everyone considers the Ring the way you do. Some people view it as a publication, not a sanctioning body. If the Ring wanted more respect, they would start putting fights together to decide some champions. It's as if they have their ranking system that sits around waiting for the #1 & #2 fighters to fight so they can crown a champion. They are not pro active in this aspect.

Shirely you can't be serious ?
I know not everyone views Ring they same way as we do, but you'd think Dan who's supposedly a boxing writer and fan would point out the fact Moreno vs Donaire would be for the title. After all he does spend week after week attacking the sanctioning bodies, and when when people say Manny's only a six weight champ he points out the fact Manny won the ring title in two other divisions to make a him an eight weight champ.

I agree, but theyre a magazine after all. Theres not much they can do. Boxing is too unorganized to make one organiaztion above another. Too many people in the sport have their hand in the cookie jar for that to happen (promoters, managers and fighters).flapanther2001 wrote:You guys act as if the Ring is paying your salary. It realy amazes me this misguided beleif some of you fans and media have that ABC orgs have any kind of real authoritative power. They can't even legaly sanction fights. The states or the country the fights are being held in are the ones that sanction fights. Recently, couldn't fight in Alabama because didn't have a Athletic Commission to sanction fights. UFC and MMA companies are spending millions lobbying to get MMA sanctioned in New York.
Promoters only use ABC belts when it benifts them as far as promoting THEIR fighters. Why pay-off these ABC belts to get their fighters in the rankings.
But it's been shown time and time again, you can't make a fighter or a promoter fight someone they do not want to. Either the fighter will dump his belt, or get stripped and go get another belt.
Example, Dawson dumped his IBF belt instead fighting his manditory Cloud, and instead rematched Johnson. Why? Because that was the only fight HBO was going to pay for.
You think ABC belts are going to tell Mayweather or Pac who they got to fight? Fuck no. Why Mayweather sat on his WBC belt for over a year and not fighting his manditory Berto. Berto didn't get the strap until Mayweather "retired."
I agree, The Ring needs to do a better job to get the word out that it is THE BELT. Maybe it's partnership CraveOnline will help to do that. So that we get more fighters like Ricki Burns who's desperatly wants The Ring belt.
