Does anybody agree that if there weren't so many belts available that we wouldn't see results like Alexander/Bradley? If he was fighting for the only belt out there, he would have fought harder & never have quit like that. I know the amount of belts has ruined the sport, but it's also ruined the fighters and the fights.

You can't blame the belts on this one. It's being over-paid and rematch clause that caused Alexander to do it. Same way Dawson pretty much admit he didn't care about losing to Pascal, he's got a rematch.

Alexander saw the fight not going his way, knew he had a rematch in his back pocket, and quit. He figures HBO will hand out bucks for the rematch.

In past, you put on that kind of performance and you weren't a huge name, you'd never be seen on network TV again. Or atleast for a very long time. No network would pay for a rematch or air that shit again. Because networks rely on ratings, the same as promoters in the past relying on attendance.

But HBO doesn't give a fuck about ratings and obviously fans. This network that put on Dawson-Tarver II, a fight nobody wanted to see.

And before TV, guys like Alexander and even Bradley would never be making the kind of money they are. Not when can't draw in big crowds. They'd be fighting 10-12 times a year to make money

I think it contributes yeah. These guys are way less grizzled than a guy who fought 50+ times before getting a championship shot.
