86-85 Trout, not that it matters, what with the one judge giving EVERY round to Canelo.

I have it 115-112 for Trout, some of those early rounds were VERY close though.

But this fight is one example why open scoring is dumb. And one more reason to hate Texas.

Trout dominated most of the rounds. He got screwed so hard, Canelo at most won 5 rounds.

Im surprised Trout admitted defeat.

Trout showed ZERO balls in the post-fight interview. Should have stood up for himself.

Texas basically seems hellbent on sucking the fun out of boxing.

And unless Father Time finally catches up with them, Flod and Martinez would easily pick him apart, especially when he throws those sloppy right hands. And he'd have a much tougher time bullying Martinez than Flod.

Good fight. I had it a close fight, but I think the right man won (and I'm a Trout fan). 115-112 was a good score card, but 114-113 for Alvarez was my score. The difference in this fight were the power punches, plain and simple.

As for the open scoring, that also makes Alvarez look bad from UNOFFICIAL scorers such as ourselves. He knows he has a big lead and can take the foot off the pedal. So it's unfair to completely dismiss his performance being that he was able to coast in the later rounds.

I loved Trout's classy interview too.

They need to kill open scoring, allows the fighter to go into prevent defense and suck the entertainment right out of the fight. Can't really fault the fighter either, it's the asshat promoters/orgs/athletic commissions that allow it.

i had it 115-112 too. i can see canelo winning because some rounds were close but you would have to give canelo every close round for him to win. i thought that trout should have won the fight. i am also surprised that trout didnt at least say that he thought he won. maybe he was told before the fight to not complain.

i like the showtime commentators but i hate their judging. i disagree with them every fight.

I wasn't scoring it, so if I went round by round I might have it differently, but I had Canelo definitively winning the fight. When he landed it had an impact, and he avoided the majority of Trout's punches. I liked that Trout kept the pressure on Canelo and didn't allow him to rest like he normally does. He kept steady pressure with his jab, but I don't think he really bothered Canelo. For every flurry of punches Trout threw, Canelo would catch him with a solid uppercut.

I'm not sure how much longer Canelo has at 154. His stamina issues seem to be getting worse, but he was much more active defensively than I've seen him before. He needs to cross his fingers he gets Floyd because I think he'll beat him handily.

I'm happier Trout admitted he lost than say he thought he won the fight. He'll come back a better fighter because it seems like unlike most fighters he's willing to examine his flaws and build off them. There are plenty of guys at 154 he can test himself against. Angulo was in the audience, and I'd like to see that fight.

Bad scoring but deserving winner. Wouldn't have argued with a close win either way.

Trout gave a good account of himself. Hes a classy guy.
