Re: Game Of Thrones (Spoilers inside !!!!!)
Just finished the first book, what a terrific read.
I wonder why they never introduced the Tully's after Robb defeated Jaimie.
Some minor changes here and there but nothing too drastic. I only realized recently that Ser Jorah was Lord Mormont's son The actors are probably five, ten years apart in real life.

Welsh actor Robert Pugh has been cast as the wildling who maintains an uneasy detente with the Night's Watch on the HBO drama.
HBO’s Game of Thrones has founds its Craster in Robert Pugh.
The Welsh actor is joining the swelling cast of the Emmy-nominated HBO drama based on the George R.R. Martin novels as Craster, the tenuous ally to the Night’s Watch.
The master of Craster's Keep, which lies beyond the Wall, maintains an uneasy detente with the Night's Watch. For the HBO series, there's much about Craster to make Jon Snow (Kit Harington) uneasy -- including the fiercely unpleasant nature of his relationship with his 19 wives. But as Jon and Samwell (John Bradley) begin to dig deeper into the mysteries of Craster's Keep, they learn that this is only the tip of the iceberg.
Craster first appears in A Clash of Kings, the second book in the series. Hannah Murray was recently cast as Gilly, one of the women living with Old Craster who wants to escape his oppression.
STORY: ‘Friday Night Lights,’ ‘Game of Thrones’ Take Top Honors at TCA Awards
Pugh, whose credits include The Ghost Writers and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, is repped by Emptage Hallett in the U.K.
The series has been bulking up on casting, recently adding Roy Dotrice as Pyromancer Hallyne; German actor Tom Wlaschiha as Jaqen; and Gemma Whelan as Yara Greyjoy. Other additions include Stephen Dillane as Stannis Baratheon; and Carice van Houten as Melisandre.
Gwendoline Christie was also added as Brienne, Maid of Tarth, as was Natalie Dormer, who will play Margaery Tyrell.
Production on Season 2 of Game of Thrones is currently under way in Belfast.

+1 - I'm about halfway through it and agree it is the best of the series so far. Cannot wait to see what they do with these when they make it to HBO. I can see the budget getting out of hand given the scale of what happens.
Sort of disapointed that they cast someone hot in the role of Brienne, as her being butch ugly was such a big part of that character. Nobody wants to see an ugly woman on TV I suppose.

How far in are you ? Just reached Davos chapter on page 517.
It'll be interesting to see how they cover the Blackwater battle, that's going to require alot of CGI fire, ships and one gargantuan chain. Hope they let Tyrion out of the cage during that episode and don't cop out like they did with the Green Ford in season 1.
I think they've got lucky with the Brienne casting, it can't be easy to find a blonde who could look the Hound in the eye. I am sure they'll be able to maker her ugly like they did with Charlize Theron in Monster.

I'm on the Dany chapter around page 782 - man this book is amazing. Lots of shit goes down in the second half of it; you're getting to some big turning points now.
I'm interested to see how they handle the big battles too, as well as the "beyond the wall" stuff. Could get overloaded with CGI, I just hope they do it well. And I was thinking the same thing about Tyrion, but it kind of makes for a more dramatic switch in his character if he lead that charge there as opposed to already fighting at Green Ford.

Forgot about The Nightswatch trip beyond the wall, although more of the big scenes happen in book three.
I've really been blown away by ASOS, wish I didn't have to go to sleep so I could just keep reading.
Still gutted at what's happened to
- Spoiler:
- Can't wait to see Jon's duel with Halfhand, and the introduction of Ygritte(who's fast becoming a favorite character of mine.)

GAME OF THRONES Actress Quits Show After Nudity Dispute in Season Two
Model turned actress Lisa Nolan has abruptly quit her role as a King's mistress after being asked to bare all for a sex scene in HBO's dark fantasy Emmy nominated series, returning in early 2012.
The 22-year-old Irish model/actress walked off the set after she was asked to strip down despite being promised "no nudity" when she initially signed up to play the King's mistress earlier this year. "It (scene) looked like it was going to basically be soft porn," said Nolan.
"I thought it wasn't a sex scene and they said they would give me skin patches for my breasts. But when I got there they wanted me to be fully topless and in the scene I had to strip off. So I pulled out at the last minute."

Good, the show doesn't need some bitch bikini model that refuses to get nude. An actress that refuses to get naked is useless

Pretty funny when these girls pose in pictures like that one and then make a big stink about getting naked. What young actress HASN'T been naked in something nowadays?! And she's not even really an "actress" anyway, just a model. So who cares? There are hundreds who can take her role just as easily.

Whose mistress was she supposed to be? Robert's dead, Stannis won't have one and Renly is into Loras. What am I missing?

Good question - I was wondering that myself
My best guess is Maynce Rayder, the "King Beyond the Wall", but I don't think he shows up til after the Clash of Kings book (they may move some of the plot elements around though).

Not buying that tale at all, just another actress looking for attention and exposure.
Can't be Joff either since he's too busy playing with his crossbows.

Greyjoy never has a mistress in the books. I suppose they could toss one in for some gratuitous T&A, and to make the "like father like son" point. And he is a "King" so could be him, yeah.

I am so looking forward to the scene with Theon and Asha or Yara as she'll be called in the show, that was my favorite chapter in A Clash Of Kings.

- Spoiler:
- Theon might steal the villain lime light away from Joff at the end of the series. I was genuinely heartbroken by what happened to Winterfall and it's residents.

Best one of the series by far. "A Feast for Crows" was actually pretty disapointing in comparison.
I'm reading "A Dance with Dragons" now and it's pretty good so far, but the third book was easily the best.

I keep hearing alot of people putting Feast For Crows down, is it really that bad or is it just hard to top ASOS ?

It's not terrible, just didn't really advance the story much and spent a lot of time introducing characters who he does nothing with (or just kills off). Also it pretty much abandons a few key character storylines (like Jon Snow) and we don't see them again til "A Dance with Dragons".
Compared to ASOS it really seems weak, but it's still a pretty good read despite the drawbacks.
