Not sure if anyone posted this yet. What do you guys think are some of the best upsets for 2010?

Not a lot of people where picking the Canadian Haitian Jean Pascal over Dawson

Two great ones so far. If the judging hadn't been rigged, Matthysse & Soto-Karass would've had nice upsets.

Burns win over Rocky Martinez

These arent huge upsets but def surprises:
Pirog KO of Jacobs
Dirrell out boxing Abraham for majority of their fight
Montiel's destruction of Hasegawa

Pirog over Jacobs. Golden Boy was way ahead of themselves hyping Jacobs as the future at 160 and possibly a top 10 P4P fighter.

Pascal over Dawson- Pascal was figured to be a live dog. The conventional wisdom was he would have some good rounds but Dawson would outbox him and win a competitive decision. He came out and illuminated alot of the flaws that have been seen in Dawson for a while now

Martinez over Pavlik- Martinez takes out the middleweight champ

Bundrage over Spinks- not expected even with Spinks reported as being 190 pounds about 3 months before the fight (154 limit)

How about Brian Viloria losing to Carlos Tamara?

Does Sergio over Pavlik belong in the discussion? I think most of us saw it coming, but...

actually not predictable. When you think Viloria is going to win, then something crazy happens. Then he gets back on track. Trying to guess when he is going to lose a little strangely is very hard to do.

What about Rios over Peterson? Was that considered an upset?

There's hasn't really been a major upset this year like there has been in the two previous years, in 09 and 08 you had Linares and Khan getting stopped in one round.

When I checked Ring Magazine, they had Segura over Calderon as upset of the year on wiki....... I think Nino losing against that journeymen will take it

Yeah when I think upset of the year I don't think it happenes in what everyopne sees as a fight where either guy can win like the Segura Iron Boy fight. I think of Roberto-Duran Kirkland Lang as my model.

Nino already lost to that fighter before so it's not really a huge upset.

It wasn't an upset but tonight was the most shocking victory of the year. That's what upsets are all about.

Sergio Martinez: Fighter of the Year, Knockout of the Year, Upset of the Year

If Sergio doesn't win FOTY and KOTY there's something wrong with the boxing media.

Come on guys, you know they will give it to Pac for beating Clottey and Margocheato.

I agree, Martinez deserves Fighter of the Year. But shit like that is a popularity contest.
