Uli Wegner threatens to leave Arthur Abraham

According to reports in Germany, well respected trainer Uli Wegner has threatened to walk out on Arthur Abraham (31-2, 25 KO) - unless the former champion accepts the reality of his recent twelve round decision loss to Carl Froch. Wegner wants Abraham to stop blaming various members of his team for the loss to Froch. He says "King Arthur" needs to accepts his role in the Super Six shortcoming or the two men will be forced to go their separate ways.

"Arthur has shown that he is very arrogant. As soon as possible, he should forget about his failures and focus on the hard work ahead, instead of blaming his failure on the people in our camp. If he is not able to understand this, then our further cooperation will not make any sense," Wegner was quoted by the Golzka paper.

i would do the same thing. if abraham were blaming the whole camp then he should find new people to work with.

Maybe Wegner should admit his role in this mess. He's the trainer for chrissakes. If he had done his job right, Abe wouldn't be so predictable.

probably a response to Abe blaming his corner, combined with Abe's reluctance to take a risk to make a fight of it.

So you have no problem with Wegner calling Abe a coward ?

What instructions? He never has a Plan B...ever. That's the trainer's area of expertise...no?

there relationship is over..what attempts made during training for adjustments we dont know.AA fights one way and if he cant adapt himself then hes part of the fault..world class fighters for that 3 minute round is doing the fighting not the trainer.they themselves should have some knowledge and abilty to adapt and make changes also..kessler put blame on his corner but needs to take blame also..1.publicaly calling your fighter a coward is shear stupidity..2.your a fighter and should have abilty to change tactics immdeiately not wait for the trainer when your in the ring with 2 minutes left in the round...yes poor conditioning is the trainers fault beyound that a fighter needs to share the blame for his performance.

But isn't it the trainer's job to "teach" him how to adjust?

The fighter is the one fighting. Trainers get way too much credit, like Roach, and way too much critisism.

You don't think Roach has visibly made a huge difference in his fighters? Granted, not every fighter is fixable, like when Jermaine Taylor went to Kronk, but a good trainer fixes his fighters flaws.
