Barcelona just have a great squad, that team will go down as one of the greatest squads ever.

It's combined of league, champions league and world cup winners.

And the thing is most of them are their own juniors.

Barca are just so sick right now. Iniesta is the best player in the world for me at the moment. his touch, control, passing, movement, vision, balance... everything is so good. i'm a huge Mourinho admirer so i'm shocked but that was as one sided as a gan...... you get the picture

If someone said Iniesta is the best player in the world I wouldn't argue with that statement.

You are probably right. Take him and Xavi out of Barcelona and they wouldn't be half as good.

damn right they wouldn't. i've never seen a player, other than Paul Scholes, than can run a midfield as well as Iniesta. when you have players like Xavi, Messi, Villa etc to link up with i guess it makes your life easier, but Iniesta is the heartbeat of that team. everything goes thorugh him and he absolutely runs the midfield. only the very few special players can do that. the only players i've seen in my lifetime who can run a game like him are Schole and Makalele but Iniesta has so much more input into the attack of a team

I wouldn't put makelele anywhere near iniesta. Makelele was a dm and couldn't pass more than 5m. Gerrard does it for Liverpool, keane did it for man ure and viera did it for arsenal but none of them had the touch of iniesta. I love barcelona's 1 touch football.

If you notice messi never plays as good for Argentina as he does for Barcelona. It's because he doesn't have iniesta and xavi putting the ball exactly where he needs it.

you don't know how many times i've had this same argument with people about Messi and Barca. i agree 1000000%.

Makalele was a defensive midfielder and i agree this is where they are different and Iniesta's complete game is much greater than Makalele's. the reason i made the comparison is because Makalele was the type of player that every move went through, he controlled the centre of the pitch and let the attacking guys move into their positions by being able to keep the ball under control from the opposition and always managing to find the right pass. Makalele was totally underrated for doing that. Scholes is probably the more accurate comparison. i think what makes Gerrard different to Iniesta is technical ability. Iniesta plays much more skilled football, whereas Gerrard offers a more relentless workrate and is a driving force behind the team in terms of desire and passion. the way they are both involved in everything that happens around the pitch is similar though, they are both playmakers. players like Keane, Viera and Gerrard were all powerhouses. what makes Iniesta so special is his technical brilliance. his touch, vision, awareness, control, passing, attacking, defending.... is all of the highest order. I firmly believe he is the best player in the World at the moment.

All great points you just made. He's 26 right now and will only get better. Liverpool is my team but I follow a team in all the major leagues. Barcelona being my Spanish team. They are the only 2 teams that I have jerseys of though. What is your team(s)?
