Showtime: Guerrero vs. Aydin
Sources have advised BoxingScene.com that Robert Guerrero (29-1-1, 18KOs) could possibly make his welterweight debut in the month of July, against hard-hitting WBC silver champion Selcuk Aydin (23-0, 17KOs). Guerrero would be moving up by two weight divisions to make this potential fight, and Showtime is the rumored network of choice for the contest.
Negotiations are still ongoing, according to sources with knowledge of the discussions. The working date is July 28 in San Jose, California.
Guerrero, a former two-time titleholder, has been inactive since suffering a left shoulder injury last August. He underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair the injury. After several months of rehabilitation, Guerrero is feeling 100% and ready to fight.

If true, not bad. Skips Jr Welter and goes right in against a top ten Welter

I like it and think there is a very real chance it will be for the full WBC title for whatever that's worth.

Re: Showtime: Guerrero vs. Aydin
It's very risky, but rewarding. Guerrero is trying to become Floyd's Mandatory by winning this fight. However Aydin is a very hard puncher, and im not sure Guerrero will be able to handle such a big opponent. He will be out muscled. Aydin will batter him for as long as it lasts.captainanddew wrote:Risky. Look forward to it.

With Guerrero, I'll believe it when I see it. The guy has more potential opponents than anybody I can remember. He just needs to get into the ring, period.

Re: Showtime: Guerrero vs. Aydin
Guerrero has been very inactive his whole career. He went pro in 2011 and really hasn't done much. If Guerrero tries to trade with Aydin, he'll get knocked out. When he tried to trade with Katsidis he got rocked lol I actually believe it might be a good fight. If Aydin can keep up the pressure and cut the ring off, he can come out with a KO. Guerrero actually wants Mayweather if he wins Saturday night. He's very delusional about his ability, popularity and thinking he can still get a fight with Floyd lol

Re: Showtime: Guerrero vs. Aydin
Well technically no because Guerrero has only been down, unlike Khan who probably couldn't take my grandmothers punches, but then again it was the first time he fought over the lightweight. Aydin isnt very good, but he has more than enough power to KO Guerrero and Bring him back to reality.hillsicc303 wrote:Guerrero has been very inactive his whole career. Re: Showtime: Guerrero vs. Aydin
i just want guerrero to get KO'd because im sick of him calling out mayweather and pac with absolutely no credentials. this is his first fight at welterweight coming from lightweight. ive never seen aydin fight but it seems like he at least has a decent punch. i hope that he can pull it off.

Re: Showtime: Guerrero vs. Aydin
i just watched some of aydins fights on youtube.some early in his career and a few rounds late in his career.first the ghost is not at a size disadvantage at all.aydin looks like a real welter not one who dehydrates and comes in fight night at 160-162 pounds.aydin can punch.he hits hard with both hands and has respectible hand speed.hes a decent finisher and works the body well.
his abilty to actualy cut the ring off is suspect.the guy to me isnt a world class fighter yet.
he moves foward and keeps his hands up and elbows tucked in and punches well off that stance but a world class fighter with fluidity movement and a good ring iq will give him severe problems.paulie m for example should outclass this guy without problems.the ghost should also if hes not rusty and fights intelligently.hes not ready for a bradley or a alexander .
aydins at the level of a top regional fighter or a solid mid level european fighter.he can pull out a win early in the first 4 or 5 rounds with his punch but if that doesnt happen a fluid type of guy will pick him apart wear him down in the later rounds and maybe get him out of there.
aydins hand speed with ppower is more then adaquate.his upper body movement is amatuerish.his legs move foward without angles nor quick movement for a step or two.
he needs polish in some areas a improvement in some that needs to be at basic world class level.

Re: Showtime: Guerrero vs. Aydin
Rising Robert Guerrero is heavily favored by a vote of 14-to-4 to break down and defeat the rugged Selcuk Aydin in Saturday's welterweight clash.
Surprised at how wide that poll is, yes Guerrero is more talented but he's coming off a lay off and is moving up two weight classes.

Re: Showtime: Guerrero vs. Aydin
I think most see Aydin as a crude brawler who if he doesnt get stopped loses a wide decision
Ive only seen him once and he looked ok.
Could be trouble for Guerrero if he doesnt bring his speed and power to 147

guerrero's chin hasn't been tested at 147. ancient and not very big casamayor dropped him.

If surgery/injury wasn't the cause for the layoff, I would think a 14-4 would be accurate. I picked Ghost and am rooting for him but he better have leverage on his shots to keep a hard hitting welter off of him.

Re: Showtime: Guerrero vs. Aydin
I like Aydin in this fight.
As has already been said, there are two things against Guerrero:
a) The 2 weight class jump
b) The long lay-off
Not a good recipe against a full grown welter who has been active, has some skill and can punch and take punches well for the weight.
Aydin in 7.

Re: Showtime: Guerrero vs. Aydin
if a shot long time lightweight in casamayor could drop RG, then Aydin needs to focus on the body and try to get to the head in rounds 9-12.
