Froch still crying/ Super 6 Finals at MSG?
By Mark Vester
WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is not happy with having to face Glen Johnson at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on June 4. Froch wanted to stage his next fight before his loyal fans in Nottingham. The fight with Johnson is part of the semi-finals in the Super Six tournament. Froch's contract with Showtime, who coordinate the Super Six, directs the match to take place in America.
"It's not ideal," admitted Froch to the Nottingham Post. "I should be fighting in Nottingham, but what can I do? The venue [in Atlantic City] isn't great - it holds about 2,800, when I could be fighting in front of a full house in Nottingham. Still, it looks as though the final will be at Madison Square Garden, which would be awesome."

Froch is realy pissing me off. This is all he bitches about. He signed a deal. Showtime from the get-go wanted the semi and finals to be held in the US. Is Froch stupid? Does he not realize Showtime is a US network paid for by US Subscribers.
Showtimes does not give a fuck about how big a gate is, except it looks good on TV. They don't get the gate money, nor does it cater to their main priority, bringing in good ratings with their subscribers, and luring in new ones.
New York is the media capitol. The fight will get more media having it their, and with the fighters being avialable to the media.
It'd be Sky having paying for fights in the US when they're a UK network

Froch does this before every fight. he tries to make it psychological. he makes a drama non related to the actual fighting all the time and then when it comes to fight night the guy is always in tremendous shape and ready for war. Froch is making the right noises to his local fans by making statements like this. the fact is that Froch will travel wherever necessary and whilst there deliver the goods. June 4th - Carl Froch will deliver the goods again

Yeah, if Froch thinks bitching about location going to give him some kind of mental edge against Johnson, he's not a very bright guy.
No this is him bitching yet again wanting homefield advantage

Yeah, bitching about location won't affect Johnson. He's not called the Road Warrior for nothing.

this is him saying the right things to his fans. his fans in nottingham, who he will need for his pension pot fights later on, wants to hear their champion make these type of statements. they don't want to hear Froch saying, "well yeah fighting in front of Nottingham is good but i'd just as soon travel to the US and not worry about wherever i have them with me or not". fans love that loyalty. as for the psychology on Johnson, you're right it will never work. but this fight will happen in Atlantic City as intended, Froch and Johnson will both be in tremendous shape, the fans will be treated to another heated battle and the end result will be the same as if the fight was held in Nottingham. Carl Froch will retire Glen Johnson.
Froch's last 6 contests - Pascal in Nottingham
Taylor in Connecticut
Dirrell in Nottingham
Kessler in Denmark
Abraham in Finland
scheduled fights - Johnson in Atlantic City
then possibly - Ward in MSG
in Froch's first 11 pro fights he fought in Nottingham just twice. Froch travelled to California early in his career also. Andre Ward has seen this whole tournament operate for him in his home state so why wouldn't Froch want some of that considering neither Johnson or Froch are draws in Atlantic city. my point is that wherever the fight is held, Froch never fails to deliver the goods. he may whinge about it but he will always go through with the fight. a lot of people complain on here about fighters not having fanbases in hometowns and half empty arenas. now Froch is complaining about that he is getting run down for it?? what's wrong with wanting to fill out arenas rather than fight in front of a handful in a casino? this is all talk anyway, the day Froch pulls out of one of these consistently high-profile fights he is having is the day you should be complaining. out of all the things wrong with modern world boxing you guys on here want to pick holes in Carl Froch???

British fans are that sensitive? The bitching is excessive already. He knew once he signed the contract way back in 09 that the semis would be in the US. Once is ok, but its not the first time Froch has bitched about the venue location.

You gotta figure the finals will be around October or November. MSG will be ready, and if its not where would the Rangers and Knicks play? The NHL and NBA season starts in October.

Exactly. And all Froch is doing is pissing off the network that has supported him when no other network would.

Good for Froch, he's right to fight for his fans than bend over for an American network.

Only reason he's fought the names in the division was because of Showtime's Tournament. Otherwise he would be another Sturm.
