Kirkland had beaten Joel Julio, Brian Vera and Bill Lylell before he was escorted off to the can, that's worthy of cracking the top ten at 154lb, remember that division hasn't exactly been stellar for awhile.

Anyway this is a moot point, all I was saying is Kirkland could build up a future Martinez clash while Sergio was facing the other trinket holders.

I'm fine with that. But he has to beat some guys. I'm just tired of boxing writers (and alot of fans) talking about Kirkland going to be an opponent for Martinez very soon and Kirkland hasn't really stepped up big time yet.

im not crazy about manfredo as a fight but it will do well at the live gate and tv will ok it in providence..pirog needs to put together a win over a top fighter not a prospect.if he does hes marketable.in reality pirog hasnt earned a title fight either..martinez saying hed like to fight floyd or manny yep its huge money.ali its not roaylity nor a high horse...hes in far better position to say id like to fight thoses guys then a bradley or kahn.hes done more also.and that fight will sell far more tickets..
martinez yes in the near future will take on bigger chalenges from 154-160 no doubt.a so called easier fight i have no problem with.im not crazy about the manfredo fight but lets not knock sergio for that reason.hes earned our respect.
