Ronnie Shields to co-train Chris Arreola

BoxingScene.com has been advised that heavyweight contender Chris Arreola (29-2, 25KOs) will be co-trained by Ronnie Shields. Arreola and current trainer Henry Ramirez left California for Houston, Texas on Sunday to join Shields. Arreola is coming off an August twelve round unanimous decision win over Manuel Quezada. He faces Joey Abbell (27-4, 26KOs) on January 28 at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California.

He needs a nutritionist & some discipline, not another trainer added to the mix.

I don't think Arreola has an issue that can be solved by a trainer.

he doesn't need another trainer. He needs R. Lee Ermey to live with him and scream at him when he starts drinkingalcohol/eating shit food, and sitting his fat ass on the couch instead of running.

Nothing could ever help Arreolas fat ass, unless he goes through a complete mentality change. We saw him get a fitness Guru and he still failed to be in shape. A new trainer isnt going to do anything, that pig is just wasting his money.

i don't understand how Ricky ever thought that Mayweather Sr was going to concede any ground to Lee Beard when it came to the training. It was all a bad move. Lee Beard trains Joan Guzman, the guy that comes into his fights 2 limits over the weight limit. I don't understand what Beard's credentials are, whenever i've seen him in a corner he speaks over the trainer of the fighter and gets in the way, his advice is all emotion driven because he becomes so animated in fights and i just struggle to see how he has got where he is.

Anyway back to subject, Arreola needs somebody to teach him discipline more than anything. the joke thing at the weigh in where he wears the weighted bodypack and then takes it off after he gets off the scales i really don't understand because the fat arse still comes in at 250lb+, hardly a deceiving trick. they shouldn't be making a joke out of it, it's a problem they need to address if Arreola is going to be successful at all in the boxing ring. Burritos and beer don't win World Titles. The reason Haye has been fortunate enough to steal a heavyweight title and keep hold of it is because these fat, old out of shape guys can't keep up with him. Put Haye in the 90s with McCall, Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe (roundest of the mentioned), even Golota and he wouldn't be able to avoid getting hit for 12 rounds like he has managed against certain gigantic, old and quite frankly pathetic opposition. These guys came into their fights in top shape like a true professional should. Even if you lose a fight, it's better to know that there was nothing more you could have done then what you did. How can the fighters expect the fans to respect the division still when the fighters don't themselves...
