FLOYD VS SRR A QUESTION.
ists not who wins.we all agree robinson is by far the greater fighter.the question is whos the most arrogant.floyd has out of no where run ins with brian Kenny larry merchant and others if you don't kiss his ass in a interview.he ignored cotto in the facedown talking about his bets cottos cartier watch etc etc.arragance yes.he also wants to eat alone wanting most of the money and a control freak.if he and robby ever agreed to a fight the hatred between the 2 would develop fast for Floyd meets his match on greed and control with robby.yes robinson gave nice interviews no trash talk etc etc but Robinsons arrogance wins out.why.several times either the day of the fight or the day before robinson made threats to pull out of the fight unless he got more money even though he signed a contract to the terms.thats arrogance and at times promoters gave in to his bullshit.

Re: FLOYD VS SRR A QUESTION.
ill give just one example.a third basilio fight was being negotiated.in thoses days fighters top ones split 60 percent of the gate some tv monie and foreign rights which was peanuts compared to today.both fighters were big draws.think Floyd and pac a few years ago.basilio wanted 25 percent giving robby 35 percent but told me if he had to he would of taken a 40-20 split.both there fights were big success.robinson offered a 50-10 split and stood firm on that.the fight never went down cause of robbys greed.basilio years later told me if he ever said that offer to my face I would of fought him right then and there for nothing and kicked his arrogant ass.

Carmen Basilio was recorded making the following statement about Robinson in an interview.; "When he died, I didn't give a shit. No use in putting on an act like I felt sorry for him or something. He was the most arrogant person you ever met."

i will admit that it would be very hard to not be arrogant if you were that good.

Good point. SRR was one of the few fighters who actually had rock star status.powerpuncher wrote:i will admit that it would be very hard to not be arrogant if you were that good.
Famous artists like Miles Davis used to love to hang around Robby. Ray just about owned Harlem back then. He could double park his car in front of any nightclub he chose. Everything he ever wanted was at his fingertips....and then it was all gone. That's usually the way it happens with fighters.
