Olympic Boxing
Anyone going to watch it? Be pleased to know this will be the last Olympics that will feature the horrific computer scoring and headgear.

Re: Olympic Boxing
I'll be busy hunting for judo on the internet streams (won't likely be on TV). I have zero interest in olympic boxing, although 2016 will be much better.

Olympic Boxing Official thread
i decided that we should just have a running olympic thread to talk about fighters or fights that we see since we are all going to miss a lot of fights.
Joseph diaz jr of the US looked pretty good and won his fight. it was a good fight for the olympic style. he comes forward. he fights a cuban next that beat him in the world championships. they said it was on wednesday. he is a bantamweight.
im watching a fight right now between a brazilian and someone from uzbekestan. the brazilian is actually pretty good. he is countering well and using his range well. the brazilian guys name is viera i think. he just won. he is also a bantamweight. he seems like he could go far.

Re: Olympic Boxing
diaz probably loses in the next round to the top ranked cuban.
He impressed me with a decent straight left and left uppercut. He was rocking the Ukranian in round 3 with some decent shots.

Re: Olympic Boxing
thankfully the right guys have been winning.
the problems with the scoring probably show up in the next round or two where the level of competition narrows.

the golden girl's advice:
1. Fight hard 2. Smile 3. Be outspoken have charisma and fight hard.
I wonder if he'll respond to me as I added 4. wait for a suitcase of cash from GB at the airport.

Gausha fight was exciting. Last second KO while trailing on the cards, what else do you want?!

Re: Olympic Boxing
The scoring and officials have been a joke. Not surprising.
That bantam fight yesterday with Japan's bantamweight Satoshi Shimizu was bad. He comes from behind and lays a beating on his Azerbaijani opponent. Knocks him down six times and the ref does nothing. Doesn't even call for a standing eight for any of the KDs.
Then the guy wins the fight on bullshit points and he can't even stand.
Good thing is they reversed the decision. They stated the ref should have given him atleast three eight counts which would've eliminated him

Re: Olympic Boxing
I just have to be honest here:
I've been around boxing my entire life, but the older I get, the more unwatchable Olympic Boxing becomes to me. The only reason I've seen some of it, is because the TVs at the gym have it on when I'm there...

Re: Olympic Boxing
Hopefully next Olympics will be better in terms of action, although corrupt bullshit favoring shitty ex-Soviet republics will continue.

Re: Olympic Boxing
How about bringing in refs from places where people actually box? Not from fucking Turkmenistan?
