Bad Judging of 2012
Is this the worst year of judging in recent times? I mean we're half way through the year and we have several questionable scorecards.
Brandon Rios vs. Richard Abril
Guilty Judges: Jerry Roth, Glenn Trowbridge
Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy "The Head Monster" Bradley
Guilty Judges:Duane Ford, CJ Ross, Jerry Roth
Gabriel Campillo vs. Tavoris Cloud
Guilty Judges: David Robertson, Joel Elizondo
Eddie Chambers vs. Tomasz Adamek
Joseph Pasquale, Steve Wiesfeld, Alan Rubenstein
Victor Ortiz vs. Josesito Lopez
Guilty Judges: Marty Denkin, Pat Russell
Juanma Lopez vs. Orlando Salido II
Guilty Judges: Dennis Nelson, Michael Pernick, Cesar Ramos
---
Any others to add to the list? It can include matches that ended in knockout where the judges had the scoring wrong.

It is time boxing follow some of the other major sports and start vetting both judges and refs more thoroughly.
That means schools and periodic reviews/relicensing.

I agree I also think age limits should be brought in.

I think it should just be based on competence. How young or how old someone is doesn't determine they're competence.Ali wrote:koolkc107 wrote:It is time boxing follow some of the other major sports and start vetting both judges and refs more thoroughly.

Add Donaire-Mathebula(sp) to the list.
Donaire won the fight, but those scores, and their wide margins were just horrendus!!!

Re: Bad Judging of 2012
I think it's matter of anarchy in the sport of boxing.
Without 1 main boxing commission, it's very easy for a high roller to pay off a judge. Investigations are difficult. Law enforcement doesn't have one strong boxing commission they can trust to even start off an investigation.
I don't think any judge in history is incompetent enough to actually score the Bradley - Pac fight for Bradley. The decision was decided long before those two ever entered the ring. As long as we don't have one nationally respected commission that everyone must answer to, these decisions will happen, espeicially in an economy like this one.
