Angelo Dundee broke his hip :(

Trainer Angelo Dundee is recovering after surgery to repair a broken hip. Dundee, who is currently working with heavyweight Fres Oquendo, suffered the injury during a slip in his garage. The legendary 89-year-old recently made headlines by reopening a new version of the famed 5th Street Gym in Miami Beach.

89 and still sharp as a tack.

If Angie broke his hip 10 years ago, it would've been a serious problem. However, with the technology medical science has now, even a hip replacement is no big deal. My mother had one and was on her feet in about 3 weeks without so much as a limp. She's been ok ever since. Angie's fine.

Yeah, but needs to be passing his knowledge along to a fighter could amount to something. HW division needs it

Can't argue with that. However, I always felt for Angie Dundee. After training Basilio, Ali and Leonard, it has to be very difficult for him to become interested in training an ordinary fighter. I noticed he has little patience with them (Listen to him scream at "Trevor Berbick" when Tyson is tearing him to pieces.). Why is he training a mediocre fighter? Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe he's just bored.

I'd love that. His last project should be an incredible gift to boxing. A future "ATG." Personally, I wish he could've trained Mayweather. I think Floyd would've benefitted from that, both in and out of the ring.

Yeah, I know. You're right. "You know who" has been silent for some time and I forgot what an asshole he is.

Not just that Floyd is an asshole. It's that an exciting American HW Champ would help the sport.

When HW title fights are not even being shown in US because nobody cares about it outside hardcore fans, it's not good for the sport

...frank broken hits from a fall is very common with older folks..at 89 it may be highly unlikely ang would be a canidate for hip replacement because of the high risk factors involving a operation at his age..

Oquendo's career would be totally different if not for his being outright robbed on numerous occasions. Yes, i'm saying robbed. His losses to Byrd and Holyfield were corrupt robberies. I kind of feel bad for the guy, he was shafted out of a couple of pretty big paydays ...other than that he is a pretty mediocre fighter.

Frank, I think at 89 any kind of trauma or invasive medical procedure is threatening.

David Haye did it. He felt a good sparring session with Dundee would be a challenge.
