Casimero TKO of Lazarte sparks riot
In a clash for the interim IBF jr flyweight title, Johnriel Casimero (16-2, 10 KOs) of the Philippines scored a tenth round TKO over hometown favorite and former world champion Luis Lazarte (49-11-2, 18 KOs) on Friday night at the Club Once Unidos in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was a dirty fight with both fighters being deducted points. Casimero dropped Lazarte twice in the ninth and Lazarte was still out of it beginning the tenth. After Lazarte was floored again and was taking more shots, the bout was waved off by referee Eddie Claudio. After the stoppage, unruly spectators showered the ring with debris and chairs and several even attacked Casimero’s handlers. No announcement was made after the fight.

Re: riot during a boxing card in argentina
Filipino junior flyweight Johnriel Casimero suffered concussions, and his team member, Sean Gibbons, received two broken ribs as the result of a riot that broke out after Casimero's 10th-round TKO of hometown favorite Luis Lazarte for the IBF belt in Buenos Aires, Argentina, last Friday.
"Casimero has several concussions, and it's not from the fight. It's from the savage attack that he received after the fight," said Sampson Lekowicz, the American-based co-promoter of Casimero (16-2, 10 knockouts). "I sent my good dear friend, Sean Gibbons, there for the fight, but I feel so guilty that he has two broken ribs because he was attacked."
Referee Eddie Claudio spirited Casimero away and actually hid him beneath the ring. Gibbons was hit by a chair and stomped by fans before he rolled out of the ring and was escorted to safety by security guards.
"Members of our team got hurt, and many of the officials did as well," said Lewkowicz. "The referee went to the hospital."
Gibbons pointed out that in the video, Lazarte can bee seen biting Casimero on the right shoulder at least once, including an occasion in slow motion in the sixth round. A ringside commentator compares Lazarte's infraction to that by Mike Tyson on Evander Holyfield's ear.
"If you watch the tape, at the end of the sixth round and the seventh round, Lizarte is clearly seen biting Casimero both rounds. Disgusting. In my 25 years in boxing, I have never seen an animal as nasty as Lazarte," said Gibbons.
"He should be banned...He bit...Casimero two times. As for me pressing charges, I think that would be difficult. I did not get a name. But he is clearly seen in the ring right next to me before I hit the deck. Also, Karma has a way of handling these things."
Lewkowicz said he plans to file a formal complaint with the IBF.
"It will be a letter to the IBF who, even though they're not resposible for these actions and they have nothing to do with it, it's not acceptable for our sport," said Lewkowicz.
"Even though the IBF really has nothing to do with the acts of this group of people who did these violent acts, I can guarantee you that the IBF will not allow this to happen again in Argentina or any place."
IBF publicist Jeanette Salazar called the post-fight actions "terrible," but could not speculate on what -- if any -- action could be taken by her organization.

Re: riot during a boxing card in argentina
The guy in the ring swinging at Casimero after the fight is one of Lazartes cornermen. This was awful, Lazarte should be banned for biting (by boxing commissions or the IBF), if the allegation is true. The people in the orange vest said "POLICIA"on them meaning they are suppose to be cops
and were suposse to be security for the event, but didnt do shit. I Have never ever seen something this horrible before in a boxing event.

Lazarte told the ref after he got penalized a point, "Do you want to get out of here alive?"

Re. Casimero-Lazarate riot: During the bare-knuckle era, men with whips were stationed between the crowd and the ring to keep thugs at bay.

In today's era of ring card girls, something tells me they'd find a way to incorporate those whips.

Argentine boxer banned after threatening to kill referee
The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has banned Argentine boxer Luis Lazarte in the wake of a riot that disrupted a junior flyweight title fight between Lazarte and Filipino boxer Jonriel Casimero on Feb. 10 at a seaside resort near Buenos Aires
Lazarte, a 40-year-old veteran whose loss to Casimero, 22, at the Club Once Unidos helped incite the post fight incident, was banned by the IBF for threatening to kill referee Eddie Claudio after a points deduction in the sixth round of the scheduled 12-round bout.
Lazarte looked at Claudio and said, in Spanish, "Do you want to make it out of here alive?"
In a letter to Argentine Boxing Federation President Osvaldo Bisbal, IBF President Darryl Peoples said:
"Lazarte is banned from being involved in any capacity in any IBF related fight that takes place in Argentina or around the world. I believe that I do not have to express to you that Lazarte's threat to Claudio, which can be clearly heard in the telecast, is completely unacceptable, should not be taken lightly and merits punishment. Behavior of this nature by a fighter is not and will not be tolerated by the IBF."
After the fight, Bisbol was quoted by the Argentine daily El Clarin as saying: "There is no one to punish. Everything was fine. According to what I saw, I can't find anyone to punish. Who you want to punish? The boxer? The promoter? They complied with everything. The Once Unidos Stadium had nothing to do with it. There is no one to punish."
