I've been a Steeler fan all my life. I just can't see the Steelers beating the Pats and I don't think Ryan's Jets do the job this year either. Hope you're right though.gomez1012 wrote:Im thinking we get a repeat of last year

the patriots own the steelers because belichek is apparently the only coach smart enough to attack their defense's weakness rather than its strength. the steelers thrive because most coaches make it a point to try to establish some kind of run game against them. Its not going to happen the team has arguably 4 top 20 lbs in the nfl. as much as i hate the steelers, no one stops the run like they do. the pats spread them out with 4 and 5 wr sets and get those LBs off the field, or put them into coverage situations. the steelers pass defense is only good when they can generate a pass rush, and they seriously lack depth at cornerback. bottom line is, if you spread the steelers out, you put their defense into a position of vulnerability which they are not accustomed too. the patriots do this better than anyone. green bay did it last year and so did new orleans. at no point should you line up with just 2 wrs against pittsburgh. football is similar to the fight game in that styles make games. the steelers would have lost to the patriots 9 times out of 10 last year, but can beat the jets no problem. lucky for them the jets matched up well against the pats and did their dirty work. dont see that happening again. thats why its tough to say who was the best in the afc last year. the pats were better than the steelers, the steelers were better than the jets, and the jets were better than the pats. that being said, i think baltimore takes the afc this year. ps im also a raiders fan lol

Seattle isnt going to make the play offs, they are the worst team in the NFC west. its a toss up between the 49ers, Cards and Rams.

Diego, you're probably right, but when you have a division of shit, it's hard to make any predictions. None of these teams in the NFC West seem capable of doing any real damage this year.Diego408 wrote:Seattle isnt going to make the play offs, they are the worst team in the NFC west. its a toss up between the 49ers, Cards and Rams.

Boy, am I eating my words on this quote. LOL I don't feel too bad though. Who would've thought the 9ers were going to return to form?Frank wrote:Diego, you're probably right, but when you have a division of shit, it's hard to make any predictions. I don't think anyone predicted Alex Smith would all of a sudden become a competent starter.Frank wrote:Boy, am I eating my words on this quote. LOL I don't feel too bad though. Re: NFL predictions. standings, playoff results and 2011 Super Bowl
Here are my predictions before the 1st week of play in the NFL. Of course, it's full of some big fuck ups, but as I stated in another thread, if I predicted the SB (Pats vs Pack) before the first game of the season, that should make up for my prediction of Tampa Bay taking the NFC South, along with some other major blunders. LOL

It's way too much of a toss up this year for me to say. All I'll say is a lot of teams are banged up in the AFC which gives the Pats a shot to get there. Our D is a massive liability though.

Talk about banged up, I'm praying the Steelers don't get embarrassed in Denver. We have no running back and Tomlin doesn't have the nerve to bench a crippled Ben.Gumby wrote:It's way too much of a toss up this year for me to say. Ok, this is the last time I comment on this thread but I have to do it. No, you don't have to read it. LOL
There are some major screw ups on these predictions, but also some surprisingly accurate picks. Both my Superbowl picks (GB and NE) ended up as the number one seeds in their respective conferences. I correctly picked the AFC rep for the SB. Also, check out the records of the Pats and Giants. Sure I had the G Men missing the playoffs, but check out the record I chose for them. Now, check out the record I chose for the Pats.
Not bad huh?
