Dawson vs. Hopkins - Discuss

Looks like this is definitely going to happen.

I'm thinking Philly. And I dunno about this fight. Dawson is boring as fuck.

If Bute can get the winner of the six I don't see him fighting either man. The fight will be in AC. Both guys are from the North East and both.cant sell out the Garden. Hopkins is from Philly which is only 45 min or so from Philly. Dawson wins because he is technical and will out point the old man.

I was sleepy going into the fight, but I had trouble staying awake. Dawson is so boring to watch. Easily the most boring top 20 p4p fighter (if he is even top 20 p4p, I'm not even sure he is).

Yeah, I channel surfed during his fight/sparring session. The dude has zero passion in what he does. Just all textbook shit that he get's by because he's athletic.

i dont like that fight cause of reasons stated.extra boring.dawson could win like hardcore says in a no action type of fight..so could hopkins..

Amazing performance by Hopkins. Didn't think he could still do it.

However, I like Dawson. His weakness is to pressure and quickness + hand speed. That's what the Pascal fight taught us. Everyone thought he didn't have the edge to put his foot on the pedal, but it turned out he didn't have the ability. When he couldn't dictate a slow pace and keep his range, he struggled. He lost lots of the close exchanges with Diaconu last night. Hopkins fights slow and doesn't throw fast combinations. Chad has always been a bad fight for him. I think he's known that. When has Hopkins ever worried about not putting on an exciting performance? It's not like the fight would be PPV.

It should be in Philly, or A.C. I think Philly is the best choice.

I think Dawson is the type that will fall prey to Hop's mind games, Hopkins by decision in an ugly fight.

Cloud vs Pascal & Dawson vs Hopkins in Montreal

Dawson isn't very intense. The announcers last night touched on something that I've thought before about Dawson. Kellerman used the Robinson Cano reference. I thought before that Dawson reminds me of Willie McGee. His body language/facial expression conveys such a nonchalance that it's human nature to attribute it to a lack of effort. I don't think he's as lackadaisical as he makes it out to be. Then again baseball isn't fighting and he could be more intense, that's for sure.

I'd like to point out that there is a little difference in George Foreman and BHop in the wake after their record-breaking performances. I bet if BHop does what George did after winning the belt, he's gonna get about 1% of the leash everyone gave Foreman. Why is that? The enormity of what he accomplished hasn't even been taken in yet. And we're talking Chad Dawson. I don't remember this sentiment a day after George won about how he has to fight Lennox or whatever.

That's the difference of being liked and not liked.

It should happen on the east coast somewhere. I dont want the winner to fight Bute I want Cloud to get a crack at the champ. The guy deserves his shot.

That would be the best possible situation and then the winners fight each other. My prediction is you have a Cloud vs BHOP fight and Cloud is the worst possible opponent for BHOP. Cloud would end his career.

This will be a super boring fight. If I was HBO, I would not offer a high purse for this fight. Its a important fight, but theres no entertainment value in it. Dawson aint no Pascal because Pascal makes every fight entertaining (in the Hopkins and Dawson bouts). It would be nice to have Hopkins vs Dawson and Pascal vs Cloud on the same card in Canada late this year.

I think it could be fun in Philly. Especially if Hopkins spent the build up punking Dawson I think he might respond with a little bit more emotion.
