What are the golden era's in boxing for each division?
I know the HW's have had a few and we usually say that era is a golden era for boxing in general but how about for each of the other divisions. Are we currently coming out of one for the Welters? Is this one for the Super Middle? I think I am going to need a lot of help to answer this question. Dmar help a brother out.
Re: What are the golden era's in boxing for each division?
the super middle yes indeed is arriving at its finest hour in history..the middles have several golden eras peaking with the late 40s to early 60s..the twenties were awsome and the hagler monzon eras also shined.the early 30s also..weters ohh boy.the 50s 60s were excellent.the 30s also the 40s were good.the hearns benitz duran leanord chevas palimino naploles era a stretch of 20 years of awsome fighters..yes the resent weters of 4 or so years ago was excellent..the lighweights since day one .the gans era benny leanord era ross armstrong ambers era and the mid 40s to the late 50 awsome..today it sucks.the feathers today may not be a golden era but its pretty darn good..yes from abe attell to pep saddler a strech of 50 years litterly no slow down in excellence..the LHS of spinks mathhew said braxton galindez was fabulous..the charles maxim moore johnson era ditto....good topic sooner...the tunney era was decent also..

I don't know if this truly the best era for SMW, the 90's had Benn, Eubank and Collins. Those guys gave us alot of great battles.

Good post Dmar. Yeah I think right now the SMW's have more depth then they ever had. It really is a golden era for them. What was the Cruiser's best era? Was it when Jirov and Toney were there?
Re: What are the golden era's in boxing for each division?
Depth doesn't necessarily mean it's a great era.

sooner one of the greatest eras ever was the lightweights from 1938-1948..not only extremly deep in top contenders it gave us great champs like armstrong lou ambers bob montgomery lou jenkins beau jack angott dam to dominate back then and some fighters did seemed impossible..add to thoses champs a good 20-25 awsome contenders.wow.

Please excuse the lack of clarity in this post, but I'm in an awful hurry.
1. Heavyweights: 70's starring Muhammad Ali
2. Middleweights: 50's starring Sugar Ray Robinson
3. Lightheavyweights: 80's starring Michael Spinks.
Will list more later.

Welterweight has been the glam division for decades now and it still continues.
