HEAVYWEIGHT CONTROVERSY

threwout the years real controversy has struck several HW boxing champs with regularity.yes the 2 ali-liston fights come to mind as well as perhaps riddick bowe being involved in by number more then the other champs.ill review a few and some maybe will be new to you.1.JACK JOHNSON.jack was far more controversial then ali.there are more then one fight that jack for money latter in life tossed out stories of fiction to raise controversy like the willard and ketchell fight..heres one thats factual.johnson defended his title in paris against another johnson.a schudles 20 round fight.rumors after said both fighters agreed to do business and not hurt each other which the boos from the crowd proved.jack suffered a injury where he dislocated his sholder after the tenth round and could not continue..thats a tko that jack should of suffered under the rules..what happened.well after 10 rounds the 20 round fight was called a DRAW.2.JACK DEMPSEY .yep the long count perhaps the biggest controversy ever.few know that jack was so pissed off that he felt he was robbed of a ko win that jack actualy protested the rulling to the boxing commision...the willard fight and ahh the plaster of paris story created by doc kerns.few realize doc was so confident of a dempsey ko he bet a good amount taking the odds on a one round ko.dempsey crushed willard in the first breaking his cheekbone a few ribs and beat jess to a pulp.after the round ender kearns tried to hussle dempsey out of the ring implying to the officals the fights over stop it..in reality why wasnt that fight stoped at that time...
the sharkey fight.sharkey protested to the ref after he felt dempsey hit him low violating the protect yourself at all times thing.while sharkey looked at the ref dempsey unloaded a left hook koing sharkey..dempsey said latter what was i to do.send him a telegraph...JACK SHARKEYoutside of the dempsey fight both schmeling fights screamed with controversy..schmeling was the only champ to win the title on a foul.smart move by max.in a return bout with sharkey everyone had max wining big time over jack.everyone but 2 officals.mayor jimmy walker cried robbery so did many others.max protested formally to the commision to overrule the SD..the commision did not and they tried to make it a rule lol that anyone that wasnt a boxing expert there comments should not be printed...JOE LOUIS.yep joe in his fight with buddy baer ened with controversy.baer had decked joe and almost knocked him out of the ring.later in the fight joe hit bear well after the bell decking buddy..baers corner was furious and asked that buddy get time to recoup per the rules..what happened.bear was DQ because his corner did not leave the ring while protesting in his corner.yepDQ for asking the right thing...in louis first fight with walcott everyone including joe felt he lost.everyone except 2 officals.joe so embarished that he lost was leaving the ring before the offical announcement but was stoped by his handlers.
finaly bowe..yes the fan man fight was a career highlight..bowe of course i felt was very protected.why.remember the fight in which newman grabed the other fighter from behind and held his arms while bowe pounded away.no DQ..or bowe who had knockdown i think buster manthis jr and while taking the count on one knee bowe goes up and wallops him.no DQ.finaly the 2 golata fights which bowe found a way out and golata was DQ both times after bowe said he could not continue..the second fight bowe went down nicely after a low blow and while on the canvas screamed newman no more golata fights.he made his intention clear right there.im not continuing this fight..
finaly again DEMPSEY AND KEARNS.litterly dempsey was hussled to the train by doc right after the fight with doc carring a bagfull of money because he felt they were going to be lynched for bankrupting the town.

i hadnt heard of some of those before. it seems like some of them could have just been a result of poor officiating or judging. unless the ref or judges were paid off.
