well arum has broken the ice with GB.im sure this is delicate so lets hope shaffer STFU and makes things work..marquez hopefully realizes hes not the star here like he did with floyd.he wants the fight well lets see if hes willing to accept monies similar to the floyd fight or slighly better.i feel and its me only he deserves nothing more then that.

He'll take the offer. There is no other fight he can get that kind of payday. But why October and not during Mexico Independance weekend?

I been telling you all, this fight was going to happen. Thats the fight Marquez wants most and a fight Top Rank is comfortable making (especially the way Marquez looked as a Welterweight). But the article does make a point, Top Rank offered this fight before Marquez and GBP made a deal. TR is way smarter than GBP by far it seems.

That's a given. Got a banker and a dumbass boxer going up against a Harvard lawyer that's been doing his thing for decades.

This is a fight where the fighters should just show up. No weight limits. I would almost guarantee that the night of the fight they'll be within 3 pounds of each other.

If they can't agree to that than have a limit of 145.

I'm in the minority but this just yet another handpickes opponent for Pac. JMM is on the decline while Pac hasnt lost a step.

Why doesn't The Roach sack up and put his boy against a non senior citizen fighter, like Ortiz? I don't give a fuck about the TR-GB bitch feud.

This will be four fights in a row for Pac that doesn't interest me in the least

You'll have an easy conscience when you steal the PPV then.

See I'd rather watch fights on the big TV then some crappy stream usually coming out of the UK. But just no way to justify paying 54 bucks, more for HD, and service fees for these kind of matchups.

But I admit, I'm in the minority about this fight. I just see Pac against another fighter on the decline

No matter what they set the weight at, it really isn't a welterweight fight. Pac weighs 147-148 when he enters the ring.

Welters-don't weight that little.
Berto-not a big welter- 155 or 156 the other week.
Ortiz-a big welter- 161 the other weekend.

Pac's weight in the ring is really that of an average size 140 pound fighter or a very big lightweight. Difference in Pac, and the 140 pound guys (Bradley, Alexander, etc) is Pac doesn't sweat out a few pounds and he eats all the way up to the weigh in.

Marquez should treat it as a normal fight. When he enters the ring to fight he should weigh 144-145 (what he weighed in his lightweight fights). He'll give up 3-4 pounds to Pac. Thats all.

If Marquez tries to weigh more than he does himself a disservice.

He weighed 142 for weigh in against Floyd and 148 (I believe) when he walked in the ring against Floyd. The extra 4 pounds he weighed while fighting made him look soft and slow. Most guys 4 extra pounds wouldn't make a big difference, but for him it does.

W/out Flod, Marquez is the biggest fight because of their history

Yea its above 135, but its still a fucking fight!

And whoever the opponent is people will find something to bitch about

the weight difference isn't the big issue. the 3-4 pounds difference in the 2 guys when they get into the ring won't determine things.

Grant is right, Marquez isn't as good as he was when these two combatants fought for the 2nd time. Marquez has gone from 34 and 7 months to just over 38 by the time they would fight in the fall.

Fight with Ortiz would sell just as well. JMM has never been a big draw. His fight with Kat was in a half empty casino. Ortiz would draw in the Mexican crowd just as well

People know Marquez, he's a MUCH easier sale than Ortiz who just made his splash

I dunno man. People are going to buy a Manny fight regardless. And a fight with Ortiz would get a lot of people interested since he's a live dog, not an old one.

Plus, it'd likely be for the new linear Welter Championship, which you know Arum and Co could sell to the fullest.

Dont get carried away with Ortiz beating Berto, he just made his name with that win, 1 or 2 more at 147 then he's real threat at Pac

Right now I think he folds under Pac's volume

GBP shouldnt want that right away

He's still a live underdog. JMM is old and slowing down. I don't think he can even beat Rios as this stage.
