LMAO - Arum: Mayweather asked for $100 million
http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/129282-arum-mayweather-asked-for-100-million-to-fight-pacquiao
Promoter Bob Arum told reporters in the Philippines on Monday that Floyd Mayweather Jr. asked for $100 million to fight Manny Pacquiao, effectively pricing himself out of the megafight.
Arum and fellow promoter Don King reportedly had a private negotiation in an effort to make the fight. South Africa was rumored to a possible site.
"Some group came in wanting to put it in a particular country," Arum told the reporters. "And Mayweather asked for a number so high that he indicated he didnt' want the fight. Take a guess what number he asked for himself … 100 million … for himself. Who will pay him 100 million? I mean, unless Manny fights for nothing, how do you do that? ..." Arum told the reporters.
"(Mayweather) can't say no, he doesn't want to fight him, so he prices himself out."
Mayweather has a court date late next month on assault and other charges.

Why ask for millions when you can ask for billions? 100 million is crazy.

Mayweather is irrelevant. Can't wait until he is gone from the P4P and Welter rankings. He represents everything I hate about a lot of fighters today. In-activity, cherry picking opponents, talking mad shit and not backing it up, ect

I liked how he took a shot at Donaire's wife saying she dresses "all tarted up. Jinkee dresses like a lady." That is the Bobfather being the Bobfather. A good fighter tries to leave and he takes every shot he can at him

funny stuff
He went on: "(Pacquiao) is where the real money is. With Nonito Donaire, you get a rights fee from television. He's not a pay-per-view fighter. We had him on pay-per-view and did no buys. The Filipinos don't support him. Truth, when he fought (Fernando) Montiel, it was all Mexicans. There were hardly any Filipinos because he hasn't connected with them, and I think it's largely because of (his wife).

Thats cold lol but hes just saying this shit because hes bitter. Donaire will have a great career if he keeps winning, that always wins people over, especially impresively lokes hes been doing.gomez1012 wrote:UBeeg9cats wrote:I liked how he took a shot at Donaire's wife saying she dresses "all tarted up. Mayweather is just scared of Pacquiao, theres no other way of putting it. He talks all this shit on media outlets and on videos that he'd whoop Pac's ass, but hes too scared to sign on the dotted line.

Arum blames Doniare's wife for Doniare wanting to leave Top Rank. He's right. She's been very vocal about her dislike of how Top Rank been handling Donaire

Since Doanire signed with Top Rank, his only relevant fight was against Montiel and its been a while since he left Shaw for Arum. Arum never got him any good fights. Had Beltran never of gotten Montiel the Hasegawa fight, Montiel-Donaire wouldnt of been that big of fight. Plus Arum didnt want the Hasegawa for Montiel. Arum didnt do anything to benefit him, all his fights were on PPV. Never did he get him a network date on HBO, I think just one on Showtime.GrantZilla wrote:Arum blames Doniare's wife for Doniare wanting to leave Top Rank. He's right. Donaire injuries had a lot to with it. Let's be fair. Yeah of course he didn't get HBO offers, he wasn't with GB or Hayman. Hello, HBO told Cotto to fuck off after gave them their highest ratings last year. So was nothing wrong with fighting on Showtime, they've surpassed HBO

you never should believe anything coming out of a lawyer's mouth. Of course please put that aside when reading all posts from myself and boxinglawyer. We are exceptions to the rule.Ali wrote:As if I am going to believe what comes out of Bob Arum's mouth.

$100 million
Unless you think Floyd is totally deluded (might not be a bad guess) then the only explaination is he REALLY doesn't want that fight.

Re: LMAO - Arum: Mayweather asked for $100 million
Duckweather Jr. has fought just 2 times in over 3 years, (JMM & Mosley) it's an insult to pugs who fight reguarly to list this clown in the top 10 P4P rankings. I don't really believe Duckweather Jr. is afraid to fight Pacquiao, he'd just rather play grabass with 50 cent, et al, than making mega bucks for fighting Pacquiao. Let's face it folks, he's a delusional dumbass, and I for one could care less if he ever fights Pacquiao or anyone else, boxing doesn't need him, and boxing is better off without him.

The crazy thing is that sum could probably be arranged since alot of those oil rich countries near Saudi Arabia are interested in staging the fight.

Mayweather is completely unreasonable asking for $100 million. However, Arum shouldn't be publicly making these types of statements if he's trying to make the fight.
I think this whole situation has become more about winning an argument than making a fight, and it might have been that way from the start.

I agree there is a bit of Arum wanting to rip Mayweather in the media rather than focus on making the fight. But if he really did start out at 100 million then he really doesn't want the fight.

Mayweather is dumb, but he's paid to fight. Bob's paid to be smart. He doesn't need to prove that Mayweather's dumb because Floyd has handled that on his own. He also doesn't need to try and shoulder the blame for not making the fight on Mayweather because most people have already picked sides. He needs to make the fight or own up to it and apologize for not being able to make the fight.
I think you wrote a perfect what they should have said comment for DiBella about a potential Martinez v. Pirog fight. Bob should have said, "Here's Floyd's outrageous demand, AND here's the reasonable thing I did in response to Floyd being an idiot to try and make the fight." $ demands have not been the issue with making the fight, it's been testing. If that got figured out I think the $ would probably work itself out.

damn right. If he gave an honest thoughtful statement to the press then he could push back at Floyd with facts. Paint him into a corner without being an asshole.

Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has faith in the Chicago Bulls. Or at least in Derrick Rose.
Mayweather posted a picture on his Twitter account Wednesday morning of a betting slip from the M Resort in Las Vegas that showed he won $37,272.75 on the Bulls, who faced the Atlanta Hawks the previous night.
The tweet read: "My lil brother Derrick Rose will always get you Paid."
According to the photo, Mayweather made a halftime bet that the Hawks wouldn't outscore the Bulls by six points or more in the second half. The Bulls made 73.8 percent of their shots in the first half, which ended with a Rose 3-pointer, to go up 72-43.
Mayweather apparently laid down the expensive halftime bet with the Bulls getting 5.5 points.
The visiting Bulls outscored Atlanta 42-38 in the second half, easily winning the bet for Mayweather.
"We can't really discuss it," M Resort sportsbook supervisor Jorgen Johnson said in a phone conversation. "It's a privacy issue. He does like to put his tickets on Twitter."
No wonder why he doesn't want to box. He's making too much money gambling.
