Ricky Burns will face tough African Joseph Laryea in the next defence of his WBO super-featherweight title.

No date or venue have been confirmed for the fight, but it is likely to take place in Glasgow in March.

Laryea will be no stranger to Scottish fight fans after an impressive win over young gun Paul Appleby last time out.

He picked up the WBO Intercontinental title with a split decision victory, although looked good value for the win.

On the same night, Burns won a landslide decision against Andreas Evensen, successfully defending the title he won against Roman Martinez in September 2010.

Promoter Frank Warren confirmed Laryea in his latest column for The Sun newspaper.

Burns is in his prime and has a short window to make a name for himself, these pointless defense serve no purpose other than to pad his record.
