I currently got a bassett hound. Great dog. Lazy, and chill. But they are also a sporting dog, so more athletic then people think.

Aren't basset hounds vermin hunters?

My favortie is the English Mastiff.

What's your favorite breed of dog Biggest-english-mastiff

Enormous, gentle, protective and not too bright!

I also had a good experience with a short haired fox terrier. VERY smart, very tough.

Yup, everything about a bassett was specificaly made for hunting in France. Short legs so could keep it's nose to the ground constantly in rough terrian. Big ears to brush up the sent. Lots of loose skin so if badget tried to grab it, it couldn't get to throat and bassett could shake it off. Very stubborn one-track mind so would not get distract from it's objective.

Mastiff's are great dogs. Huge heads. Why bulldogs are so expensive. Most of them can't have natural births because their heads are so massive.

There's a series of 20-25 shops on a narrow promontory a couple of hundred yards long in Rockport, Mass. I was there with a woman I was dating on a beautiful fall day maybe a decade ago. We were inside and suddenly there came this wailing from the street. It was clearly a child in terrible distress. We rushed out of the store and people came pouring out of the other shops by the score to aid this child. We are all looking...and then we all saw the basset tied to a pole while its owner went inside. An unbelievable ability to howl.

Yeah, and it get's louder the older they get. My bassett is nearly 11 years old. And I can't leave him out at all when I leave, because he'll piss off all the neighbors with his constant howling.

When I lived in New Haven, Connecticut I found a Pit Bull puppy emaciated and shivering. She's 11 now and my Ex GF got her in the split. Great fun dog with loads of personality.

I want a Rhodesian Ridge Back.

The best dog I have ever owned was a cocker spaniel. I got him when I was 3 years old and he died when I was a freshman in college.

Damn, now I gotta multiply! 16x14...carry the one...224 pounds. My Hannibal varied between that and about 240. It makes for one impressive animal doesn't it?

English Bull Terriers? Are those the ones with the heads like torpedoes, short legs and 110% muscle?

A buddy of mine got a Great Dane. It's still a pup but already huge. Problem is, he thinks he's a lap dog. There is nothing funnier then seeing this huge dog sitting on his tiny gilrfriend's lap

LOL you mean 16-17 years? Yeah he was old. I was sad as hell when he died. It was like losing a close friend.

When my male mastiff stood on his hind legs he was as tall as me and I'm 6'2.

Great Danes are even longer/taller

I had a mastiff live on my street for awhile, I was too scared to go near the door to post my moms christmas card.
