Noob question. 2012 Cliff's Notes Empty Noob question. 2012 Cliff's Notes

Help a noobie out. If you could recommend 1 fight to watch start to finish from 2012, what fight would you recommend? If you want you can break it down to two answers. What fight would you say showcased the best skill? What fight would you say was the most entertaining/action packed?

Also if you wouldn't mind listing the best KOs of the year...or just pointing me in the direction of a thread already containing that information. Sorry for the noobness.

Dawson vs Ward is the fight that features the best fighter today.

A great brawl would be Maidana vs Soto Karass. That was a damn good fight.

i probably agree with this. its hard to say though. technically at this point, ward is the best fighter. his fight against froch would be a good one to watch too but it happened in 2011. watching floyd vs cotto would be pretty good too because they are both good fighters and they both had their moments.

Can't disagree that Ward is the most skillful fighter out there today, but IMO, the biggest fight of 2012 that had the most skill on display by both fighters had to be Mayweather-Cotto.

The best brawl was probably Matthysse-Ajose if it wasn't the Maidana-Soto-Karass tilt named above.

If you want to see a brawler get schooled check out Molina-Kirkland. You'll also get the worst officiating of the year too.

For skill I'll say Zab Judah vs. Vernon Paris. Not because Zab is the most skilled guy, but because the fight demonstrates how much a difference in skill can matter in a fight. For exciting I'll say Chazz Witherspoon vs. Seth Mitchell. Not great fighters but that fight was everything that's fun about boxing.

Schooled in what? Excessive holding?

Look, I like Molina as much as the next guy and I agree Kirkland did get his hat handed to him most of the fight...but part of the reason for that is Molina was holding far beyond what should have been allowed. Do I fault Molina? No. I fault the ref for not calling it and especially Kirkland's corner for not being much more vocal in complaining about it.

The other part of this is, that although it did end in a controversial manner, there a couple of things not in dispute about the end of that fight.

1) Kirkland finally caught up to Molina and put him down, hurt him even.
2) Molina was gassed.
3) There were 2 full rounds to go.

The upshot of all this is, IMO, Kirkland would have stopped him any way.
