Berto is really starting to sound like Paul Williams. Al Haymon gets these guys to believe their own hype. Where I do believe that Alvarez might not yet be ready to fight Berto, Berto should just say if the price is right I'll knock him out. Freddy Hernandez and Carlos Quintana and not Saul Alvarez? Alvarez just knocked out Baldomir, he is as qualified as Bertos last two opponents.

Call me crazy, but Canelo knocks Berto out cold. I dont even think Canelo is all that good yet, but this has more to do with Berto being simply trash.

I actually don't have a problem with this, Berto's right Canelo is extremely green right now, he's in no position to be fighting for a trinket.

Regardless, Canelo shouldn't be rushed, It wasn't that long ago a Puerto Rican Mathew Hatton almost knocked him out.

i think that canelo is ready to fight berto but i dont mind if the fight doesnt happen and let canelo get another year of experience. but for berto to say that canelo isnt ready is ridiculous because obviously berto hasnt fought great competition either.

lol to be fair Riveria isn't exactly a slouch. Jose Cotto was a former Bantamweight for crying out loud.

Rivera is your typical Mexican journeyman opponent, 14 losses!
Look what Judah did to him
Berto goes 10 and gets dropped

Re: Berto says Alvarez needs to get more experience to fight him
The majority of Alvarez's fights have been against cans in Mexico, he's fought one decent opponent in an ancient Baldi.
Berto might be annoying but he's got some experience under his belt, Carlos Quintana, Luis Collazo, Steve Forbes and Juan Urango. Yes the last two are Jr Welterweights but they're are top fighters none the less.

Canelo has some decent wins on his resume
Miguel Vazquez-current lightweight strap holder, beat him twice once at 140 & then at 147
Michel Rosales-welterweight journeyman
Lanardo Tyner-welterweight journeyman KO'd Lou DiBella prospect Antwoine Smith on ShoBox
JM Cotto
Baldomir
Berto's best win-Quintana KO
Alvarez-Baldy KO
not much separates them

Make the fight. Wouldnt suprise me if Mexican based WBC one day has Saul ranked no.1 and forces a mandatory fight.

ali man some of your responses are getting more foolish by the day. Canelo deserves a shot at Berto as much as Quintana, Hernandez or Collazo do. look at the calibre of Berto's opposition and tell me that he is really in a different league to Canelo... he's not. Canelo absolutely sparked Baldomir, nobody has done that before even if he is an old man. Berto needs to get his feet back on the ground before he gets his wish of a big fight and gets KTFO. his defence is too sloppy, his stamina is questionable and so is his chin. I think a Berto vs Canelo fight would be the biggest challenge Berto has faced yet. or he could just keep ducking quality opposition, hold onto his pathetic auctioned-off trinket and take the piss out of us boxing fans for a little bit longer fighting cans like Hernandez because everybody else is "too green" for him

Re: Berto says Alvarez needs to get more experience to fight him
Berto is a fighter with amazing ability. Unfortunately, he has no idea how to apply those skills. What good is Berto's experience if it hasn't taught him the basic fundamentals of the sport, which he doesn't seem to understand? If Berto just shut up and fought, he'd be in for a cruel awakening.

GTFO Quintana is a two weight title holder with wins over top guys, Canelo is no where near as experienced as him.
Berto's competition has been alot better than Canelo's, Saul's fought one decent guy so far who was as old as Marble's wallet condom.

hahaha, yeh OK Alvarez is still fresh i'll give you that but no fresher than Berto when he got a shot for his title. Berto isn't the top level fighter he thinks he is. Fighting a bum like Hernandez and then saying Alvarez is too green for you is called hipocrisy

Alvarez isn't even a welterweight at the moment, he's fought at Jr Middleweight for his past three fights.

Canelo is a Welterweight, he is a small junior middleweight and i put it down to his opponents for that being the case. the only reason he's too green for Andre Berto at the moment is because he's still a star in the making and doesn't bring enough $$$ for Berto to be interested.
