Koki Kameda Targets Jorge Arce
WBA bantamweight champion Koki Kameda (27-1, 17KOs) is training hard in Tokyo for his scheduled defense on April 4th in Yokohama, Japan. He faces Indonesian boxer Nouldy Manakane. In practice, the defending champion continues his routines of sparring and some rounds on the mitts. After this tuneup, Kameda will face mandatory challenger Hugo Ruiz of Mexico in the fall.
A dream fight for Kameda would a clash with WBO champion Jorge Arce (60-6-2, 46KOs).
"I recognize the bravery of Arce, like all Mexicans, but I want to face him. [Arce] has been a world champion five times and I've been a three-time champion. There is no doubt that it would be an interesting fight and a very exciting match. Hopefully we can reach an agreement," Kameda said.
