Peterson vs. Khan rematch Empty Peterson vs. Khan rematch

Post  Frank Thu Jan 19, 2012 5:28 pm

I've been on Peterson's side in reference to Khan's attempt to change the result of the fight. It's no secret that I'm no fan of Khan. However, all Khan is doing now is asking for a rematch. A rematch, mind you, that was ordered by the powers that be. Now Peterson is trying to find a way out of it. Does he know something I don't? This is pure bullshit and Peterson, being a relatively new name, will lose face over this if he is successful in his attempt to duck Khan. My call.

It should of been done by now. Date and venue set, but Khan chose to cry about it instead of just fucking fighting for his title back

Khan may have cried like a little bitch, but Peterson is the one not signing for a big, big, payday! 50/50 is alot when you have all the UK money. More than Peterson can make against anyone not named Pac or Floyd.

You see this is why UFC gains ground, love or hate Dana but he makes a rematch when a fight ends controversially.

Khan bitched for a month instead of getting a rematch. That would only make LP want to move on. bs from both

Enough. Boxing is a zoo, but it's a free market. Same can't be said of the UFC. Go read up on that article I posted in the MMA section. The UFC is ran like a sweatshop. They are already under a Federal Grand Jury probe for antitrust.

The shit is going to hit the fan. At the least, they will be forced to form a union where the fighters will have a lot more rights on who they fight and for how much.

Boxing already went through this when the mob ran things and it was federally broken up for racketeering.

Maidana didn't get a rematch in a close fight against Khan. Prescott didn't get a rematch after he knocked Khan the fuck out in one round.

But Khan is entitled to one? Why? Because he's with Golden Girls?

I'll gladly take fighters being paid significantly less if it means we get rid of all the nonsense in boxing. UFC makes the fights people want to see, you can't deny that.

You're not a fighter. Why would anyone want to go into MMA and get ripped the fuck off.

You do realize these guys are still getting paid sums that some of use don't even earn in a year.

Very true. Not all ex boxers or ex-mma fighters walk around completely punch drunk after their careers, but even those that aren't likely have some sort of damage.

When you can get through a career and the odds of having some serious issues later in life, I would want to get PAID for that risk.

Yeah but those are the top guys. The low level guys MIGHT be getting 4 figures for a fight and only fight 4 times a year. 9K * 4 = 36K which is respectable but taking out training costs and the like will drastically reduce that. Add in the fact fighters are done earlier than other careers and the extra medical bills in the future and it really is peanuts.

The average MMA career is three years. The average MMA fighter competes 1.6 times per year (as stated by Fertitta).

Basically have a 3 year window to make money as a MMA fighter. That's it.

As said, boxing already been through the whole UFC type era. Just switch Frankie Carbo with Fertitta. Jim Norris with Dana White and IBC with the UFC.
