ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Cruiserweight titlist Yoan Pablo Hernandez and former titleholder Steve Cunningham will meet in a mandated rematch of their controversial first bout on Feb. 4, Sauerland Event, which promotes both fighters, announced.

The bout will take place in Frankfurt, Germany.

"We supposed to fight in January and that was delayed and now it is in February, and I am just looking forward to taking my title back," Cunningham said Saturday before attending Andre Ward's victory over Carl Froch in the Super Six World Boxing Classic which unified two super middleweight titles.

"I don't think Hernandez wants to fight me again, but he has to, and I will be ready. I just want to get back in there with him and finish what I started."

What's the point in the rematch if it's going to be in Germany again. Cunningham won't win unless he knocks Hernandezl out, which is unlikely. Cunningham doesn't have huge power.

i watched the first fight & tipped hernandez prior,so a little bias may be involved.though the stoppage was weak(kindest word i could think),no way could i see what the fuss of the decision was.reading some reports & posters, you would think it was the biggest robbery since ronnie biggs et al.cunningham came back well but no way, imo, was a win guaranteed.at least it will get settled(touch wood)in the ring.

homecooking happens everywhere. Try to get a decision in Germany against Sturm, in St. Louis against Alexander, in Mexico City against a Mexican, in the UK against a guy from London.

It is almost as if you can add 2 pts to the hometown fighter's score and take 2 from the foreigner.

Bold move by Cunningham. He must be confident. I hope this fight gets televised or streamed by ESPN.
