Cotto to Golden Boy/ May 5th vs. Mayweather ?

This is Cotto's last fight under his Top Rank contract. Are you hearing any rumblings that he may leave Arum after this fight or is it a foregone conclusion that he will re-up?

It is his last fight although I am sure Top Rank will point to extensions or injury time or whatever and will believe he is still under contract. I dont think his leaving or staying is automatic. After the fight I would imagine he and his team will sit down with TR and discuss the future. I will say this -- and I have heard rumblings of this scenario -- if he leaves TR it would not shock me whatsoever if he went to Golden Boy and wound up fighting Mayweather on May 5.

Cotto vs Mayweather would have been a fun fight prior to the first Cheato fight. Not so much after Cotto having taking a beating (maybe with plaster) against Cheato and then another beating from the Pac Monster.

Honestly I am still interested in it, if Miguel looks good tonight and the mega fight can't be made then why not ? Rather Cotto vs. Mayweather than Morales or Guerrero.

Cotto is loyal and seemed to insinuate last night that Arum would continue to be his promoter. And daddy bob wants to sacrifice Cotto by giving him a huge payday to face Chavez Jr. in MSG. Make him fight a guy a fuck ton bigger than him.

Hopefully Cotto is smart and does sign with Golden Boy. He could do so and request a Floyd fight or if he stayed at 154, why not Canelo. Canelo is young, but Cotto might be able to pull off the win, it is a huge money fight that could be on PPV, it would be for the ring belt and allow Cotto to officiallly become the man at 154 (or Canelo), etc...

going to Golden boy and looking for a Floyd or Canelo fight and then heading off into the sunset is the path he should follow. Hopefully Cotto is thinking the same way.

If Cotto stays with Arum, he'll make him fight Chavez Jr so forget a Canelo and Mayweather fight. Arum makes the fights he wants and they always benefit him more than the fighter. Arum wants to feed his cows, not anyone else's. Remember Cotto didn't even want to fight Margairto, but Arum sweet talked him into it.

As long as there are cows for Cotto to fight, I am okay with it. I think Cotto still has gas left in the tank, but I would rather see him fight guys like Chavez Jr. instead of someone deadly like Martinez.

Bob Arum Certain Miguel Cotto Will Not Leave Top Rank

A rumor being whispered Saturday at Madison Square Garden before Miguel Cotto even stepped into the ring with Antonio Margarito was that Cotto, following this fight, would depart from Top Rank and possibly seek a mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

At the post-fight press conference, Top Rank’s Bob Arum said he felt assured that Cotto would not be leaving the promoter that he’d been with for the duration of his pro career.

Said Arum: “Miguel said on the international telecast what he’s said to us continuously. When they asked him what his future promotional plans were, he pointed to me and said ‘That man is my promoter and he will always be my promoter.’

“That’s good enough for me,” Arum said. “I never had a contract with Marvin Hagler. … Miguel reminds me of Marvin Hagler — the same type of loyalty.”

I've lost interest in the fight. I'd rather see Cotto v. Canelo or Cotto v. Dzinziruk. Even Cotto v. Williams. Floyd should be fighting Manny. If he can't fight Manny I don't care who he fights.
