Dawson talks: Calls Hopkins a coward

During the second round, Hopkins rushed in with a punch and leaned in over Dawson, who used his body to push Hopkins off. Hopkins fell to the mat and advised the referee that he suffered a left shoulder injury.

The referee issued a TKO ruling in favor of Dawson. Last week the WBC refused to recognize Dawson as the new champion and returned the title to Hopkins. The California State Athletic Commission will make a decision in December, as to whether or not the outcome of the fight will remain as a TKO win for Dawson.

If you look at the fight over and over again, you can see that Bernard was faking the whole time. There was a point in the fight, when they announced me as the winner, he forgot about the shoulder. He jumped up off the stool and forgot about the shoulder. If you can't see that Bernard Hopkins is a phony, he's an actor and he's a coward. He didn't want to fight and I knew for three years that he didn't want to fight.

He wanted me to get disqualified or to get a no-contest. He didn't want to fight that night. I'm a fighter, I can look in a guy's eyes and I can tell you when he doesn't want to fight. Bernard had that look in his eyes...he did not want to fight.

A rematch for what? He's going to get hurt. Bernard Hopkins will get hurt. Bernard Hopkins knew he was going to get hurt that night and he found a way out.

Everyone is talking about I tackled him and making me out to be the bad guy. I did not tackle him. How can I tackle him when I'm coming off the ground with him leaning on me? A tackle is when you run at somebody and you jump on them and throw [them down]. That was not a tackle.

What happened in the ring that night was a scared man. This guy is talking about that he's a legend. A legend wouldn't have went out like that. He’s not a legend. Pascal fought with a dislocated shoulder. Muhammad Ali fought Joe Frazier with a broken jaw. He's a legend? What type of legend is he? If I would have lost one arm that night, I would fought. I would have had to get knocked out to take a loss. I would have fought. How can you call that guy one of the greats? He's not.

I agree with Chad, but he's a bit of an idiot. Ali fought Norton with a broken jaw, not Frazier. If you're going to do something for a living, you should know about it.
