Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Rico Ramos Dec 17th ?
Two-time Olympic gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux will pursue the ninth win of his burgeoning career when he meets undefeated WBA junior featherweight titleholder Rico Ramos of Los Angeles in a clash that is targeted for Dec. 17, according to Top Rank Inc. CEO Bob Arum.
Top Rank Inc. Vice President Carl Moretti won the purse bid on Monday in Panama, and with it, the right for the promotional company to play host to the fight, said Arum.
"The date that we're looking at is Dec. 17, and we'll have it on our Top Rank Live series," said Arum. "We'll have it at the place in Oklahoma, the Wind Star Casino, where we do about four shows per year."
The 31-year-old Rigondeaux (8-0, 6 KOs) won the WBA's interim belt by split-decision over Ricardo Cordoba on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao's unanimous decision over Antonio Margarito for the WBC's since-vacated junior middleweight crown. His most recent win was a first-round knockout of Willie Casey (12-1, 8 KOs) in March.
The 24-year-old Ramos (20-0, 11 KOs) is coming off a seventh-round knockout of former WBA titleholder Akifumi Shimoda (23-3-1, 10 KOs) in July.
Considered one of the world's all-time great amateur boxers in Cuba before he defected to the United States, Rigondeaux established a new boxing record by defeating Cordoba for a title in only his seventh professional bout.
Rigondeaux eclipsed the mark by Leon Spinks, who was 7-0-1, with five knockouts after dethroning Muhammad Ali for the WBC and WBA heavyweight crowns in his eighth professional fight in February of 1978.

Odd place for those two guys to fight, but it should be a good one. Hard to pick a clear favorite, Ramos was looking like crap in his last fight before he scored the KO, but he was supposed to have been busting up Rigondeaux at Wild Card. Then of course there is the hand of Lord Haymon.

Why Arum and TR are hypocrites once again. Arum gets on Shaw for doing this kind of shit. Yet here he is having this fight in some Indian casino in fucking Oklahoma where neither fighter resides. Should be in LA or Florida

Ramos is Rican so he aint getting no love on the west coast. I dont know if Cubans really support Boxing. I'm sure they're groups and whatnot but not enough to sell out venues. My opinion anyway.
Also TR knows how to build a fighter's fanbase so maybe they know more on that. (Cuban Market)

I know Ramos is a Rican but he resides in LA. If you can't build a small fanbase there move him to NY which has a Rican population.
Just don't get why you got a Rican and a Cuban fighting in Oklahoma. Just seems like TR took a casino check and not even bothering to build a fanbase. The same shit Arum accuses other promoters of doing.

Would it be possible to put it in Miami?
Also, I have Rigo giving Ramos the business. I don't care about sparring reports. I don't see how Ramos deals with Rigo's skills and power. Rigo hits harder than Shimoda, who was dominating their fight and landed flush shots until he got dropped.

Rico Ramos fucked himself for this fight. He had a decent purse to fight Rigo in the undercard of Pac-Marquez or Cotto-Margarito (I forget, buts its one of these two). He didnt want the original deal, it went to purse bid and Top Rank bought the fight for a much cheaper price than they first offered.
