This could get ugly in the off season over controle. His son will take over but there's been rumblings that as soon as Al went major stock owners will try to move in

I'm not a raiders fan, but he will be missed. He did alot for the game and hopefully he gets the respect in death many didn't give him during his life.

He was a pioneer of pro football and the last of his kind. Team owner that not only created the team but was a coach and commissoner. First to hire a black coach, black and Latino QB and a woman as a top executive in the NFL.

Sure he was losing it with old age, but he lost more football knowledge than anyone in the sport

Everytime I'm discussing Jerry Jones with my football buddies, Al's name always comes up. Jerry wants to be Al Davis, unfortunately he never will be. Davis was only created once.

Jerry learned everything he knows from Al unfortunately he never learned everything Al knew. I really respect Jerry the guy has a commitment to the game and his team. He is a great owner.

I fully respect the intentions of guys like Davis and Jones - they passionately want to win. The problem is that history has shown sucessful franchices are ones where the owner steps aside and lets professional football guys (coaches, GMs, scouts) do thier jobs.

Yeah, but that's what made Al different. He started off as a scout, coordinator, coach, commissioner, and owner.

He was a proffessional football guy. He just lost it with old age in the last ten years

He really might not have lost it. We are on the right track right now.

I agree that Al did lose it in the past ten year. But it's in accurate for younger people to remember him for that than all that he's done and his massive role in shaping pro football as we know it today

That crazy press conference he had stating why he fired Kiffin was proof enough he had lost his damn mind
