PPV numbers for Ortiz-Maywthr

that is interesting.the fight was well advertized in every aspect of the media.ill be shocked if it didnt do at least a million dispite the extra charge that was about 10 dollars over the norm..i suspect that if it did 1.5 million without the movie theaters we would know about it by now..

the only thing Ive seen is Kevin Iole sending out tweet the Sunday after the fight saying 1.3

Since then not a thing, pretty strange considering the magnitude of the fight

Leads you to believe they are much less than expected

It probably did as much as the Pacquaio-Mosley fight. Im thinking its the same old people that buy these PPV fights, because I know I do lol

true dat. if pac's ppv is about the same number then it puts more pressure on both fighters. hbo need to get stricter with these 2 if it happens and make a point that they wont put all the effort into ppv fights that are going to bomb

Still jack shit about the number, which makes me think Kim's number is accurate

I never have understood why anyone would pay money to watch a fight that Mayweather is part of, but that's just me.

This did over a million. If Mayweather-Marquez did a million then this did more.

the announved ppv number is irrelevant,imo.the fact that the ppv numbers are yet to be officially announced means whatever the final number floyd is in trouble.until he fights pac & it better be bloody soon,the better,pac can keep beating cans 8 peeps will watch because he's a midget fighting the biggies,but floyd by proclaiming he's the greatest,will never get that accolade,til he fights pac.the bed floyd has to lay in is his own making.

JMM was more well known than Ortiz. It was Mayweather's first "comeback" fight. So people thought he might have lost something. It was on Mexico's Independance Weekend.

I know it's pure anecdotal, but when I went to the theators to see Mayweather-JMM, the crowd was made up over 90% Mexicans. I'm sure that was the case throughout.

He had Canelo on this card too though. So the Mexican turnout should've been there because of that. If he sold worse, it's because people aren't buying into his act anymore. A lot of people are in Pacquiao or screw mode.

UFC PPV's are hovering around the 280k-320k area for the entire year of 2011.

It's bad for Floyd. A lot of his negotiating leverage with Pac comes from the whole "my fights gross more, so I'm the most popular fighter" argument. Plus it's an ego hit which I doubt he could handle.

Since it is taking so long the number has to be low. If it was over a mill buys Schaefer would be flapping his gums about it.

I doubt at this point an official number gets released. Or if it does it's because they are trying to inflate it as much as they can

If Floyd wants a Pac fight then he needs to do it now. I think after Marquez Pac only has 1 or 2 more fights before he walks away
