A reliable source indicates that in the Dominican Republic business people and sports journalists are seeking the support of that country’s President for financial assistance so Elio Rojas can fight in the city of San Francisco de Macoris for the WBC championship against Mexico’s Jhonny Gonzalez. The WBC recently stated that Gonzalez must defend against Rojas. Other sources suggest the possibility that Rojas-Gonzalez could land on the September 17th Mayweather-Ortiz card in Las Vegas. Since July 2007 Rojas has only fought four times.
