hopkins vs martinez at 170?

They really can't find anyone to fight Martinez? If he can fight Bernard at 170 then he should/could take on anyone at '60 or '68.

I understand that, Martinez said going north of '60 is a big stretch. Now all of a sudden a fight 2 lb's over the supermiddle limit is kosher? Lou is talking out of his ass.

agreed. And Martinez doesn't have the frame to go up without sacrificing the speed that makes him good. They just need to get him whatever ranked guy at 160 he can and let him destroy the guy.

Let me play Devil's advocate while supporting my boy BHop. Sergio is P4P #2, BHop will be 47, and BHop will have to cut to a pretty uncomfortable weight. He is on record as saying that he couldn't cut to 168 even for Pacquiao so 170 must be EXTREMELY difficult for him.

Also, BHop by UD. He cuts Sergio's already somewhat questionable workrate down and grinds out a victory being so much larger. He then gets to claim he beat 2 middleweight champs at 170

He threw 75 punches a round for Dzdiurik, 57 a round for Pavlik and 53 a round for Williams. His work rate isn't that bad.

It won't happen. Hops has got to get past Dawson first.

Then if the Pascal-Cloud fight happens, and Cloud wins, that'd set up a big fight

Hops got plenty of opponents at Light HW to be going down like that at his old ass age.

If Martinez wants to fight someone bigger, there are plenty of Super Middles he can fight. Maybe a shot at former Middleweight trinketholder Abrahams?

If he is going to fight anyone above 160 he needs to cherry pick the guy. He can't compete with elite guys who are that much bigger than him.

Martinez could beat lower top 10 guys at 168. He wouldn't beat guys like Bute, Ward, etc.... as they are elite guys and they are much bigger.
