Pascal vs Cloud
According to the latest boxing news, former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-2-1, 16 Ko’s) will be facing IBF light heavyweight champ Tavoris Cloud (22-0, 18 KO’s) next, as long as the 29-year-old Cloud wins his next fight next month on June 25th against Yusaf Mack (29-3-2, 17 KO’s). Cloud will likely win that fight, setting up a bout against Pascal for the summer on HBO. Pascal was recently beaten by 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins last weekend.

Re: Pascal vs Cloud
Good its a fight that should happen along with Hopkins vs Dawson. I hope Cloud and Hopkins both win so they can fight each other.

Anybody think Cloud will not have an easy time with Mack?

mack is tough but if cloud survived glen johnson which i thought was a draw, then he should win against mack.flapanther2001 wrote:Anybody think Cloud will not have an easy time with Mack?

From Fat Dan's Notebook:
Showtime is working on an excellent fight for either Aug. 4 or Aug. 11, a light heavyweight showdown between titlist Tavoris Cloud (even though he got a gift in his February fight against Gabriel Campillo) and former champ Jean Pascal. The fight would take place in Montreal, where Pascal is a big draw. Although Campillo certainly deserves a rematch with Cloud, it may not happen right away, and in any case, the fight with Pascal is a good one. Should be action-packed, and there will be a great crowd. The downside is what promoter Don King is pitching to Showtime for the undercard: a Guillermo Jones cruiserweight title defense or an utterly awful rematch between junior middleweight titlist Cornelius "K9" Bundrage and Cory Spinks. I wouldn't mind seeing Bundrage in a solid match, but the mandatory with Spinks is terrible. Thankfully, from what I'm told, Showtime isn't interested in either undercard bout.

I like Cloud vs Pascal. It should be a fun fight.
But I'm tired of guys like Campillo getting screwed.

Re: Pascal vs Cloud
Pascal vs. Cloud Deal is Nearly Complete With Showtime
Promoter Yvon Michel advised BoxingScene.com that a television deal is close to being finalized for a light heavyweight encounter between IBF champion Tavoris Cloud (24-0, 19KOs) and former WBC beltholder Jean Pascal (26-2-1, 16KOs). Michel, who promotes Pascal, reached an agreement with Cloud's promoter, Don King, nearly a month ago.
The two promoters were searching for a television outlet - and that search is nearly over. Michel confirms there are two possible dates being discussed with Showtime - July 7th and August 11th, and one of those dates will be finalized early next week.
"We did the deal a while ago, probably a month ago. We have a deal in place for Pascal to fight Cloud here in Canada. And we're working with Showtime on two possible dates, between June 7th or August 11th. We should have some confirmation early next week about it," Michel told BoxingScene.com.
Fans have been calling for a Pascal-Cloud showdown for quite a while. Negotiations took place last year, but fell apart. This time around, King's promoter softened his position regarding a few contractual details and the fight was easy for both sides to make.
"I know Bernard Hopkins and Chad Dawson are fighting tomorrow, but I believe the best fight to watch in the division is Pascal and Cloud. Somebody is going to hurt somebody in that fight. They are not defensive specialists. As a promoter, of course [I love the fight], but as a boxing fan I am really looking forward to the fight," Michel said.

I like this fight! @yvonmichelGYM tells me it is a done deal for @TavorisCloud-@jeanpascalchamp for Aug. 11 in Canada and on @SHOsports.

Re: Pascal vs Cloud
interesting fight!!
Pascal is quicker and has the offensive bursts. But he doesn't sustain his workrate for rounds (or within rounds). Cloud is more constant. Neither guy knows much about defense. Should provide some fireworks.

Should be a great fight.
Cloud must know there won't be any gift decisions for him in Canada.

Has great fight written all over it. I like Pascal in this one, I think he outboxes Cloud to a comfortable decision.

Re: Pascal vs Cloud
Before the Campillo fight, I would've taken Cloud in what many would've called a decent-sized upset but Cloud's defense and chin are both worse than I thought they were. He will get hit on the chin and Pascal has great power. Pascal (T)KO 7.

Showtime looks like they're trying to get out of the boxing business. This is a huge fight for that division.
