McCloskey isn't getting any younger, he's a nobody who's been granted a trinket shot, he better accept the fight or be prepared to return to obscurity.

They can't even find the money to pay them. It's ridiculous. I can't help feeling that 90% of the trouble they're having is because of the match up. Nobody wants to see Khan fight a nobody. Khan went from 1.25 million to $250K....what a joke.

Khan should make Audrey and Haye pay, since it's their fault the UK market is still steaming over it.

Shit, what you get betting money on a unproven protected Canadian.

But I'd bet on him to, because Rubio sucks.

I was hoping he was the real deal. I wouldn't bet on him yet though so I lost nothing but hope.

Well, don't write him off yet. Now we're going to see what this kid is realy made up.

Will he take the loss like a man, learn from it, and improve. Or will he fall apart.

He should get right back on the horse, and fight another decent opponent. He's learned nothing fighting bums he can knock out in a few rounds. Rubio was proof of that.

He showed a lot of flaws...some may not be fixable.

why should McCloskey not get paid well though? yeah it is his shot, but this is going to be the end of his career so he needs to make it worth his time. also this is a massive distraction for the Khan camp. instead of being 100% focused on the fight, he is focusing on the promotion. for most boxers there is no career outside of the prizefighting ring. nothing wrong with being a bit sensible about one's career in my opinion, even though we all adore a warrior's spirit and willingness to fight the best at any costs. at least make it worthwhile. the dumbest thing Khan's team can do is move the fight to primetime. Khan's arrogance has caused this. Boxing News magazine came out thursday with a khan interview saying about how he thinks he is a box office star. thursday afternoon the card is dropped from PPV. the promotion for this fight has been pathetic. Khan also does not have the following he probably thought he did because he went to America after insulting all the British fan's loyalty even though they made him a superstar. Hatton is co-promoting this card and they let Macklin, a Manchester born fighter, pull out of the card with less than 2 weeks notice for a fight happening in Manchester. dumb move in my opinion. Contracts for fights really don't mean fuck all these days.

Paul's not earned a payday, he's an obscure Euro trinket holder who's beaten nobody. He should be grateful this fight has even fell on his lap.

McCloskey was heading towards a World title anyway. he could still be getting paid well to stay active fighting Europeans defending his title in Ireland. he's headlining a World Championship bill, this one night is what most fighters work their whole career for... it's the pot of gold at the end of rainbow if you like. because Amir Khan's promoters, who are putting this show on, have failed their promotional duties should have nothing to do with McCloskey. whatever fee GBP contracted they were to pay McCloskey when he signed for the fight is what they'll have to pay them. that's Golden Boy's problem and McCloskey is right to want what is owed to him

22 fights undefeated, reigning European champion. i'd say he has earned some right to be in there. if Khan wants to be able to pick his voluntary defences then he has to cough up the money. this is a business and that's how it works unfortunately. you'd be doing the same put in McCloskey's position

do i think he belongs in the ring with Amir Khan on 16/04/11??? that's a different question Very Happy
