Why does that suck? I meant to say, we're close to getting some real Champs. Outside Donaire-Moreno which right now seems very iffy

Look at Fana's resume
He's in there by default, majority of the names have moved up in weight
The Japanese belt holders might be the more legit 130 lb'ers

True, but oh well. How it goes in divisions seperated on whether or not a fighter takes a dump before weigh in.
This year is shaping up to be a great one for boxing. Sure outside Pac, no real super fights. But who cares. Super fights rarely do anything as far as progress in boxing.
We're getting the top guys in divisions actualy fighting each other, and in doing so, getting legit Champions being crowned hopefully

We'll atleast get a I'm sure.
We could maybe even see a new Welter champ being ground. Maybe. Mayweather no doubt will be dropped out of the rankings come May. Do to a year of inactivity. That'd make Pac # 1 and Bert # 2. And if a deal can't be made for a third JMM fight after Mosley, Pac could fight Berto.
And a win over Berto would make Pac prett much the clear cut legit Welter Champ.
Long shot, but it could happen.

The fight will fill the Bantamweight vacancy for the Ring belt.

I love that Khan vs Bradley will be on my B-Day. That means a fun night of drinking, boxing and some good old fashion bedroom fun from the wifey.Ali wrote:GrantZilla wrote:Cunningham-Huck for Cruiser Hopefully late this year

Update:
Cunningham-Huck for Cruiser: Who the fuck knows.
Super-Six winner vs Bute for Super Middle: Next year maybe
Bradley-Khan for Jr Welter: Bradley bitched out
Donaire-Moreno: Donaire has sabataged his own career
Burns-Fana Jr Lightweight: Warren and Fana fucked it up
So we'll likely end the year once again with no new Champions.

Bradley should be demoted for ducking Khan.

they won't and if they did they would just have Khan go up 1 and Bradley down 1. Not going to drop Bradley below Maidana.

Here's how I'd like it to play out. A win over Zab would definitly boost Khan to # 1 spot over in-active Bitch Bradley. If Khan wins the Zab fight, he should make one last ditch effort to Bradley. If Bradley accepts. Great. If not. Then he should rematch Maidana, and there should be zero bitching that it'd be for the linear belt. Bradley would have been given every opportunity to take part in it.

Re: Man we're so close to getting some real Champs
The Ring's stance on the bantamweight division is strange.
Hasegawa was the Ring #1 guy for a while. Montiel destroyed him and Donaire destroyed Montiel.
So now he has to beat Moreno? Why? Because Moreno holds a trinket? I thought we weren't supposed to pay mind to trinketry.
If beating Montiel was not enough to be legit world champ, that's understandable. After all, neither Hasegawa or Montiel were considered undisputed champ, so I get it. I just think the Ring would be better off taking a stand at some point when one titlist is just so far and away better than the rest. Why penalize a guy who is beating the best in his division just because 2 other organizations are calling some other aguy a champ? It gives credence to the alphabet groups.
Donaire should just be annoited the champ. If not, have him beat one of the other top 3-4 guys in the division, but it shouldn't have to be Moreno, who is a clear step below anyone in the 4-man tourney. Either we disregard the alphabet groups or we don't.

Donaire wasn't the 2nd rate Bantam when he beat Montiel. Beating him made him # 1, but Moreno is still # 2. It has to be # 1 and # 2, and in rare cases #1 and # 3.
No doubt the tournament winner will take Moreno's spot at # 2, and a fight with Donaire determine a clear cut Champion.

ABC shit belts make it impossible to unify. They'll strip a fighter for not fighting some joke mandity, or make them a "super inter-galatic Champ" in the WBA's case.
Add on all the extortion/sanctioning fees and manditories, why would any fighter want to unify.

Thanks for breaking it down. I understand the reasoning and won't argue too heavily with the fact that Donaire has some unfinished business before being declared the best. But why should Moreno be the snag in the fence? Alphabet considerations aside, how is he #2?
It just seems silly to say now that Donaire not being ranked ahead of Moreno back then amounts to jack squat. Is there any coherent argument as to who the better fighter is or ever was? That WBA trinket hasn't been in capable hands since Paulie Ayala had it. Moreno won it from Sydorenko in way closer fashion that when Donaire blew him away.
Standards are good. I'm just saying a little well-placed discretion can be better than sticking to some rigid rules once it's clear they don't really apply in a reasonable way.
