Beating on fighters a division lower than you works wonders.

Dan thinks he's a risk taker doing this, when he realy isn't. He'll wait a full year until Mayweather hasn't fought, just like The Ring, before he drops him completly.

Re: Fat Dan puts Martienz as 2nd P4P
Here's how im looking at it.
Beating a guy ranked 8th in a division below you makes you move up?
Sergio should've stayed at 4. Nonito crushed Montiel (A Top 10 p4p'er) in a divison where Montiel was number 1. How does Nonito lose his number 3 spot?

Outside of Montiel and Vic, Nonito hasnt faced a string of opponents close to what Martinez has in his last 5
Not only winning but the last two guys he wrecked

^^^ This is what happens when youre Caloca's cum bucket for too long. Sure Ser-gay was smaller, but not by much. Sergio is a new Middleweight, watching him fight against Williams and SD, theres no real size advantage. Williams wanted him at Middleweight the first time around and is fighting everyone at catch weights since Pavlik. Martinez is schooling fools, while Pacquaio takes on a bunch of stiffs and Floyd chooses to duck good opponents and cherry pick fighters over 35. IMO Sergio Martinez is the best fighter in the world.SlickMoney wrote:Beating on fighters a division lower than you works wonders.

Ummm Martinez knocked out Williams that was ranked higher than Montiel on the p4p lists. Pavlik was even on the p4p list before Martinez crushed him.SlickMoney wrote:Here's how im looking at it.

Dummy Diego at it again. Learn to read.
Martinez was ranked 4th before his fight with Sergei D. Nonito was 3 at that time. So up until that point with all that Martinez had done Ring still had him at No.4. Now that he beats a guy ranked 8th in a division below he moves past Nonito?

Re: Fat Dan puts Martienz as 2nd P4P
Obviously youre the dummy that doesnt understand that Sergio's preformances have out done Donarie's by a mile. Donaire was highly ranked for years and kept his position by not losing, he was always underserving at his current ranking for years. He only has two good wins and one was over Vic, who has proven hes a push over against better fighters. His Montiel victory is great, but you cant compare that to Sergio's outstanding preformances against Cintron, Williams twice, Pavlik and SD. SD was actually ranked as high as 2 at 154 by Ring at one point, but they took him out of their rankings and ranked him again later, and put him in a lower ranking. If you look at his weeks of rankings, he hasnt been there that long. SD was a good champion, Martinez destroyed him. Martinezes accolades are far better than Donaire's. Shit Floyd was unraked after he retired, and with a win over fat old Marquez and old Mosley, he got the #2 spot. Now thats a problem.SlickMoney wrote:Diego408 wrote:Ummm Martinez knocked out Williams that was ranked higher than Montiel on the p4p lists. with all due respect, I'd have Martinez in front of Donaire. His last few years have been more impressive to me than Donaire's last few years.

Thats fine. But what i was getting at is Ring having Nonito over Martinez last week then just cuz Martinez beats a man not even in his division he moves up. Why did beating a guy ranked 8th in a divison lower than you warrant moving up a spot?

Re: Fat Dan puts Martienz as 2nd P4P
Slim, P4P is not divisional rankings. It's pure opinion on who the better fighter is. As it stands, Martinez and Donaire are neck to neck in most people's opinion skill wise.
Forget about Sergei D being a Jr Middle. Jr Middle is a nich division anyways, and Martinez was a Jr Middle before he spanked Pavlik.
Nobody expected Martinez to do what he did against Sergei D, and that's why he chumped up on the P4P list.
My opinion, Ring was wrong for putting Donaire above Martinez in the first place. But again, P4P is pure opinion.

They had Donaire at #4 for a KO back in 07?? They make some dumb choices sometimes
Like right now they have Canelo ranked 9th at 154

Re: Fat Dan puts Martienz as 2nd P4P
Raising Martinez to number two on the P4P ratings is a great move. I don't see any Middleweight or Super Middleweight who can even compete with him at the moment. I suspect his biggest fight is going to materialize soon, with Martinez entering as a 3-1 fav. If he accepts the challenge, he'll lose. Greatness has a way of overcoming all types of odds.

Dzinziruk was in the 50s or 60s of ring's top 100 fighters. I think the edge that gave Donaire the spot higher than Martinez was razor thin and beating another respected fighter added to the totality of the work Martinez has done and gives him a razor thin margin over Donaire.
Donaire beats Vic. Doesn't really tear it up for years. He leapfrogs Martinez with a Montiel KO. Didn't make sense to me. I thought Martinez should still have been ahead of him, but Ring felt Donaire deserved to be one spot ahead.
The line between those two guys is so small that any meaningful addition to their resumes could change things.
