it's going to be explosive!!!! i can nae wait man

and it is definitely happening, Hayemaker promotions paid £400k for it to happen, they are trying to wrap up the date now, May 21st seems to be a strong possibility also. i wonder where this event gets held though, i'll be so pissed off if it doesn't happen in London. i think it will end up at the MEN in Manchester. if not then the O2 in South London would be great in my own personal opinion

The best scenario is to attach the fight to the Cleverly vs Breahmer PPV.

yeh and i think that's what Warren and Booth might look to do. the problem with Groves vs DeGale on it's own as a headline fight is that Groves vs DeGale does not command a big enough audience to justify a PPV show. maybe Warren could do a split site show with Groves vs DeGale taking place at a venue in London, Cleverly fights in Cardiff or somewhere near Wales with both having their own shows. put a few good undercard fights on each and do another stacked show like he has been recently on Sky PPV. that way he would maximise revenue from gate receipts and PPV, it would be pretty damn hard to coordinate though

big big fight, DeGale might be a little too green for a seasoned pro like TBA

I was thinking more of adding the fight to justify the price tag. Plus that card will probably be in England, can't see Cleverly being a big enough draw to fill a venue on his own so adding Groves vs DeGale would help sell tickets and PPV's.

Also since Cleverly will be fighting for a trinket Sky and Warren will be promoting it heavily, so it's not like Groves vs DeGale wouldn't get exposure.

Hayemaker promotions have got to recuperate 400k for a British title fight. being a support act to Nathan Cleverly isn't going to get them that because Cleverly is Warren's fighter and that would be a Warren show. i can also imagine that Cleverly and Braehmer's purses will be much more than Groves' and DeGale's. Hayemaker are going to be running the show between Groves vs DeGale. the fight needs to be able to draw a huge audience on its own to make that money. it will need its own show, but i just can't see it working as a PPV. if they could get the O2 arena it would do well with ticket sales and that is a potential 15'000 - 20'000 there. they could easily sell cheapest tickets £40 and then ringside upto £200. so that perhaps brings in £750k, then take what ever money Sky, advertisers and sponsors want to put into the pot. Hayemaker will have to promote a Groves vs DeGale as a main headline fight on it's own show though

I am sure Booth and Warren could come to an arrangement. And anyway both fighters are still in the prospect stage so it makes sense to put it on an undercard.

Well that's my opinion anway, not really bothered where and when it takes place, as long as I can watch it on Sky Sports HD I'll be happy Smile

the demand for this in London seriously is huge. the fight went to purse bids. Booth put in £320k from Groves camp, Warren put in £325k then Dave Coldwell (representing Hayemaker) put in a bid of £400k. Warren and Booth hate eachother man. it will be left to Hayemaker to promote and this fight needs to make more revenue than being an undercard fight could. it's simple economics, it doesn't matter what status this fight deserves because Hayemaker has put £400k up for it and that would be extremely hard for them to recover with the fight being on an undercard. i can't see Warren bailing them out either because his fighter is getting paid regardless, Hayemaker and Warren are rivals, they hate eachother, and making the promotion successful is now Hayemaker's problem..... knowotimsayn

This is an interesting fight to me and I really want ginger to win but why is this fight happening now? Seems like it should be given time to build up more.

The British board have asked for purse bids because Degale is the UK champ and Groves is the mandatory, I think.

And Groves has looked vulnerable lately, could be Hayemaker wanting to cash in.

yeh that's exactly why the fight went to purse bids. Groves camp could have walked away from the fight though and just forfeited their position as mandatory to the British title. my point is, i can't see how Hayemaker can cash in, i can't see that after having to weigh out £400k and put on a promotion they are actually going to make a really significant return from Groves fighting. it would be impossible if they put it on an undercard. the bidding was strange because Booth made a bid and then Warren put £5k on top, and then a second person representing Groves came in with a £400k offer (£75k on top of Warren's offer) so Warren pretty much said take the show. i can't see who Hayemaker have in their stable for an undercard to make this a financially successful venture. Warren could do it though, which is why the outcome of the purse bidding was strange as Hayemaker could have let Warren do the show. nobody in the UK can match Warren for putting on boxing shows and that's a fact

well it looks as if Dave Coldwell is handing promotional rights over to Warren. Coldwell wanted to do an April 9th show in Liverpool (????) but Warren already has April 9th date with Sky. that would have made absolutely no sense to stage the fight between 2 young London prospects in Liverpool. i wonder if Coldwell knows what he is doing. it does look like the fight will happen in a co-feature with Nathan Cleverly vs Jurgen Braehmer as the headline fight

i'm not sure. i think they might do. Coldwell is Rhodes' trainer. Rhodes vs Angulo purse bids are set to have an April deadline. so looks like Rhodes will get a big fight. the thing is that Rhodes has been around forever and is getting old now. i think Angulo is all wrong for him

I don't see Angulo vs Rhodes happening, he's been AWOL since the immigration issue appeared and hasn't been returning Gary Shaw's calls.
