Roman Karmazin retires
Former junior middleweight champion Roman Karmazin (40-4, 26KOs) of Russia has come to a final decision to retire from the sport of boxing. In his last fight, against Australian boxer Daniel Giele in October, Karmazin suffered a very bad twelfth round knockout. He spent several days in the hospital. His family is against a future return to the ring. Karmazin will begin a new career direction as an active trainer.
"I can still try to pursue a career, but in my last fight I sustained a very serious injury to the back of my head. I suffered a busted vessel and I actually almost told this life goodbye. Three days I spent in intensive care. And my family is against any continuation of my career, so I'm going to start coaching," Karmazin told Alexander Pavlov.
