Fledgling premium cable network Epix is interested in boxing, which helped dramatically increase subscriptions for HBO and Showtime when they got involved in their early years. According to a source with knowledge of the proposal, Epix has made an offer for heavyweight titleholder Vitali Klitschko's March 19 defense against Odlanier Solis. Epix CEO Mark Greenberg was a longtime executive at Showtime and involved in overseeing its boxing franchise.

What is this EPIX pay channel? I never heard of it?. I'd rather Klitschko show up on ESPN3.

Epix is a premium cable station like an HBO or Showtime. Lots of movies and some specials. Epix has shown, for example, several excellent concerts. I get it on my cable system as part of a package I pay for. It is run by Mark Greenberg, who used to be exec VP of Showtime and was very involved in the network's boxing franchise.

I've never heard of it either. Don't believe my cable provider has it as well.

I'm wondering if Starz will get into boxing now that Chris Albrecht is the CEO....he is the same man who ran HBO and green lit the Sopranos, Oz, 6 feet under, and others. HBO boxing flourished while he was CEO.

Albrecht was a boxing fan- actually got fired for drunkenly slapping around his woman after an HBO fight.

So not just me that thinks HBO has dropped off since he got fired.
